Nice Guys Finish Last

It's particularly sad that the nicest guy associated with the Jazz in the last ten years got fired into the cold abyss of Minnesota, while the turnstile who never supported him & never had his back gets the applause line & the keys to the car.

DM is about a 95% lock for leaving Utah in his next contract, and never showed one iota of understanding of the issues plaguing this team (meanwhile, as Andy Larsen realized, Gobert always hit the nail on the head).

It will be hard to root for this team. There are so many signs pointing to a gross team culture -- no athlete reacting to Rudy's departure, two (now former) teammates reacting to Quin's departure. The absolute worst vibes on any Jazz team I've ever seen-- and among the worst in any NBA team ever going back 10+ years.

Even this goofy *** coach we just hired -- the only glimmer of hope we have in this organization rn is Danny Ainge.

The trade was an unbelievable haul -- a sort of trade you can't not make for someone heading into the later half of their career. But this trade in isolation without firing off Donovan is just gross.
I hope they send him off too. But we'll see.

Yeah that’s really ****** that not one player wrote a goodbye to Rudy or anything.

What if he really is that much of a prima donna? That could be great for us for how things go in Minny!!!

Rudy was the best teammate of all-time if you didn’t know that.

I believe JIngles and Alex Jensen's wife posted some nice things about Rudy.

Jingles is an adult.

I’d guess half of the roster was afraid of upsetting Don and therefore didn’t post. The remaining half dozen players or so are probably too dumb or too inactive on social media to give a damn.

Bogey is the guy who is curious. He seems to be mature and probably not give a **** what Don thinks. Is he active on social media at all?

Yes, they are all worried what Donovan will think of them.

imagine being scared not to say goodbye to a teammate getting traded because of what Donovan will think

absolute garbage, childish vibes with no leadership. this is what happens when Whole Foods John Lucas III is leading your team

Probably because no one on the currently feels sense of team. Most of the roster probably thinks they are about to get traded.

Also players do things on stories a lot that dont get picked up by people. Then a day later someone points out "omg there are no post on his twitter about it" and everyone freaks out because the story no one cared about a day ago is now gone.

I checked all of their IGs out of curiosity in the 48h following the trade. Only Royce O'Neale shared something. Joe talked about it too. No one else did.

I mean they also may have done this thing people used to do is they may have called him on the phone and actually spoke with him or sent him a direct message through text.

Same guys here crying about nobody saying goodbye to Rudy didn’t say a word when the Jazz beat writers said Rudy was a bad teammate. You only like the message if it fits your narrative.

The way Rudy leave just show how bad was the team chemistry last year. Mike in an itw say almost the same about beeing here for a job only.... Thre is some good reasons why the team was unable to win despite having talent. Put all on Don shoulder is just ridiculous.
Rudy is as i am , a french character. Loyal, giving 100% for his team but also complaining way too much and stubborn sometimes.
Don on the opposite is new generation guys, putting much more importance to his image than what he may achieve, in others terms, his number of followers matters,...

Add to that a cpl of vets not interesting in this **** and this is where we are.... it was the right time to move on and Ainge know it.
There is only 2 options : - take a high risk and try to win in the next 1 or 2 years, means keeping Don and hoping chemistry happen after Rudy gone. As i say very risky as we all know that Don will leave in 1 or 2 years.
- Try to get as much as possible for Don and going for a rebuild. Less risky but no success garantee. Grizz have been very lucky to draft 1 diamond Ja and one very good player Bane but there is a large part of luck.

If he was so great why didn't any of his teammates like him?

Donovan didn't talk to Rudy for months after the NBA shut down because he made the most minor, banal, not even problematic COVID joke ever. The most bizarre pretext for the most childish NBA beef I've ever seen.
You think Donovan called him on the phone?
