It bothers me to play with or watch people who jack up a ton of shots on one end and put no effort on the other. He came into this league with talk of him being great at D, but he just stopped trying.
Additionally, while he is amazing at getting to the basket I feel like his passing is below par and more often than not you see him taking a horrible shot over 2+ people. He just doesn’t seem to make others around him better.
Those are the reasons why I don’t think he is good enough to build around to be a title contender.
But, you asked why people don’t like him. If I met him I’m sure he would wind up being an awesome guy… but from the outside looking in he seems to be driven by a PR firm. Like everything he does or says seems like it’s been overly orchestrated.
I just want people to know what they're dealing with before responding to a troll.

I don’t hate him, I just believe I’ve seen enough to know he’s not going to get us to where we need to go. It was an eye sore watching this offense because he stopped or regressed in his playmaking. He wasn’t good in late game sItuations. I’m just ready for change. I also wanted Gobert gone

Basically because he(along with many nba players) is completely out of touch with blue collar Americans. He is willing to tarnish former long-standing Jazz supporting companies like SME steel. All while he grew up going to probably the most entitled elitist school in the world.
On the basketball end Disparaging comments regarding Gobert, while being a complete bumb on the defensive end of the court. Many reports say he quit to make Gobert look bad. Bottom line is you can’t win with this type of selfish cancer on the team. So do I hate Donovan? No, he is just out of touch with many of the long standing fans. Frankly I hope he gets moved so I can enjoy watching again. He is a slightly better, but less likable version of Dwill.

We traded one superstar to Atlanta, had one superstar retire, and watched another walk to the Lakers for his last year in the NBA. I'm not aware of any others.
Donovan is not a superstar and perhaps that’s part of it. He thinks he’s better than he is, is arrogant, a cancer, and not worth it.
I hate Donovan, but this is a stupid post, especially the first paragraph. There ain’t a player on the team who wants SME’s support or anyone like them fyi. Same goes with 99% of NBA players. So get used to that fact.
