Chris Mannix & Howard Beck Some interesting takes, basically super high on Rudy’s fit & potential for the Wolves with him. Pretty damning on Quin Snyders lack of adjustments in playoffs & inability to run actions to get Rudy the ball when switched onto a small defender, & particularly noted that he could punish Marcus Smart in the Olympics yet wasn’t trusted by Quin / Jazz to do the same in the NBA.

Interestingly also super high on Donovan’s ability to be A1 on a high level team. Thinks Jazz will make a move to make the team good this year rather than tank all out.

A week on I still think we traded the wrong guy. A guy who’s given everything to the team & community & wanted to be in SLC should’ve been able to stay & trade the primadonna who won’t stay. I could be proved wrong but can’t see it.

Quin has escaped all this with minimal damage to his rep. Interesting.

Trading Rudy was the right thing to do if you look at his age and contract. Basketball wise it is debatable if it was the right move. I look forward to seeing how the deal turns out for both teams. Sentimentality should not be part of the decision-making process. For fans how they feel about a player is important, but the Front Office has to decide what they think is best for the future of the organization. Sometimes they get it right and other times they are wrong. Time will decide if it was a good move or not.

I wonder when Alex Jensen is going to quit?

This. Taking the sentiment out of the equation it's probably the right move. The Jazz can easily trade Donovan and still go full scale rebuild. Had they traded Donovan and kept Rudy it would require a lot of luck for Danny to build a true contender in the short time frame/limited resources at his disposal to still lineup with Rudy's contract/age. If Utah was a destination that high level FAs would be flocking to then sure it's a lot easier but the Jazz don't have that luxury. Keeping Rudy and trading Donovan we would still be on the treadmill for the next few seasons IMO. The previous regime screwed up the building blocks they had and this is now the result of it.

I've fully accepted that Donovan most likely wants to play elsewhere and I'm totally fine with it as long as he's fully committed while he is here (i.e. trying on the court. I don't give a **** if he posts pictures in/about Utah or if he doesn't show the state love that's totally fine. I'm not 12 and don't need a professional athletes constant affection.) My expectations is that Danny will slow play this. If he gets a god tier offer in the coming weeks Don is gone but he won't trade him just to trade him. I don't really expect any "win now" moves unless they are for younger players with upside and at least 4+ years of control, players like Ayton, Collins possibly even Simmons etc. Players that you can still build around or even flip in the event that Donovan is traded.

Rudy sealed his fate signing that massive contract.

Yeah interesting to see .. nearly as interesting as the wildlife around Acland st tonight …

Dude ive not been down that way in ages, had my b'day at the bowls club a month ago. One of the lads at work, does shifts at the espy, goes on about the young birds at the pub all week at work. (dudes 41 and works 80 hours a week, even if he could land a date, he split the bill.) Ahh some of the pretty young things these days....

Nah. I was firmly in the blow it the **** up right after the season. But, after seeing the haul Rudy got. I’m firmly in the build around Don side. Before the trade I thought it would be possible but extremely hard to build around a 6-1 scoring guard but those assets coming back should jumpstart things in my opinion. I think we can suck for a year and add some good MULTIPLE pieces by trade or draft or both. The big unknown is the coach

Interesting points particularly concerning Gobert leading France to the Silver medal and Snyder’s inability to use him as effectively. What Rudy did with that non All Star roster in the Olympics was really impressive and gives me hope that he can realize his dream of an NBA Championship in Minnesota. That would be a win for the small markets and an inspiration for the Jazz moving forward. Rudy said “win, win”!
