What's new

Why did the Kelly Tripucka experiment fail in Utah?

Tripucka was not good in Charlotte. The NBA added 4 teams in 2 years and the league was suddenly 17% bigger. And it's not like the new teams got some young gems in the expansion draft or good picks in the regular draft.

No matter how bad the team, someone has to score and in Charlotte, it was Tripucka. In Orlando it was Terry Catledge and in Minnesota it was Tony Campbell. Not one of these dudes was actually good. They were just given a green light to shoot on terrible teams.

I feel like you are talking about DM.

Not saying the players were above doing bad stuff but I am not buying it. No way it was kept this quite.
Don't remember hearing anything about it. I think Hansen does radio for Iowa BB games and they're still married. He won a ring in '92 with the Bulls.

Bobby Hansen was a complete **** to me when I was 9 years old trying to get an autograph outside the old Salt Palace.

I hope his wife nailed the entire team.
I can co-sign this. Total d*ck. I was 11 and said "you're Bobby Hansen!!!" and he said "I'm whoever you want me to be, but you leave me the f*ck alone." I didn't even ask for anything. I was just excited. F*ck that guy, I hope he gets waterboarded with steaming hot diarrhea instead of water.

It was fairly well known back in the day. And, let me remind you, this was well before social media.
As one who has followed this team very closely - since we won a playoff series in the Salt Palace - this doesn't fit with anything I have ever heard. I guess we run in different circles.

I was at the first Jazz game in Utah. Maravich scored 29. My family have been season ticket holders for most of the Jazz hx. I was around the Jazz a lot at Westminster College where they-and visiting teams- practiced for many years. Great stories in a pretty relaxed setting. Not sure what surprises you. Malone went after Kobe's wife.

That’s NBA champion and Lakers legend Tony Campbell, thank you very much!
