So I'm a dumb *** who's had cable for forever and I've never really considered going all streaming, but it seems like I can get absolutely everything I want from streaming services. Even with cable I have netflix, hulu, amazon prime, and apple TV+.

I was just looking at Youtube TV and I think with that and possibly HBO Max and Paramount+ I'll have access to everything I currently watch.

What combo of streaming services do any of you have that you feel covers the most ground without too much overlap?

I've seen sling orange and blue recommended and philo. Anyway, for those of you who don't use cable or satellite what do you have and if you don't mind saying, how much do you pay for it all at the end of the day?

I can’t answer this but for me HBO Max is a must. It’s the best overall streaming service…an absolutely amazing collection of films and of course all of HBO’s shows as well and their collection of shows might just be better than every other channel and streaming service combined.

If you live in Utah you may not get the Jazz games with Youtube TV. I think DTV stream and Fubo are your only options.

I have Youtube TV, Apple, Peacock (free w xfinity internet), Hulu/Disney/ESPN, Paramount (free year) HBO and Prime. No idea what I pay. Dish was going to be $120 a month when I switched and Youtube is $65 IIRC. NBALP works great through Youtube too, which is the primary reason I had Dish.

The fact that the NBA doesnt broadcast all of their streams in 4K at this point is really disappointing. If they did, I'd switch to whatever provider supports it for all the games.

In what I'm looking at I think I'll end up saving some money but this is going to be like a 20-30% savings as compared to the half the price type thing I was kind of hoping for.

I am trying to keep a very broad range of stuff.

@fishonjazz You watch Jazz games on youtube TV don't you?

We do Netflix, Hulu, prime, Paramount (through prime). Probably just prime the most. Use prime to get NBALP. Debating getting HBO and Apple but it just keeps adding up. Right now we are pushing $100 per month on streaming. Having not had any TV for years now probably plenty I'm not realizing I'm missing.

You cannot watch jazz games on YouTube tv. I would know because I’ve had YouTube tv for 3 years now. I love it. Cheap, high def, and unlimited DVR.

The only two downsides to YouTube tv are:

1. It doesn’t carry the PAC-12 so watching Utah games became difficult.
2. You only get the national televised Jazz games. Games that we traditionally laid stinkers in.

So what we’ve done is purchase Fubo TV. I think it’s their 2nd step up plan as their first step might not include that Rocky mtn channel the Jazz are on. That gets us the pac 12, the Rocky mtn sports channel for jazz games, and 250 DVR hrs. Cancel it when you’re not interested in sports. Or just go with Fubo as your main carrier. Honestly, this might be the way to go although YouTube’s app is so much easier to use.

I’ll never buy cable. And if I could, I’d get rid of tv packages altogether. I only use maybe 5 channels anyway. There’s no need for me to pay for most of the garbage on tv. Hell, I’d pay extra for a provider to not give me Fox News.

Anyway, so basically:
YouTube tv is awesome but lack of the pac and jazz made me search for an additional provider.
Fubo is very good. Its app isn’t as easy to use as YouTube and the limited DVR sucks.
If you want a one stop shop? Go Fubo. If you want to subscribe and cancel? Go YouTube and then Fubo. Cancel fubo when the Jazz/Utes aren’t playing. Don’t care about money? Go with both. I think both combined are still cheaper than what we were paying for direct tv at one pt.
You don’t ever need to buy cable. Cable blows. And you’re right @Gameface you are a dumb ***. ;)

You can watch the Jazz games on Youtube TV if you have League Pass and live outside of Utah. :) I live in the Portland "home market" so I have to either VPN (what I normally do) to get the few PDX games or do a Fubo trial a few times per year. I have to use the LP app as the Youtube App still detects I am in the Portland market even with VPN on my tv.

My only gripe with Youtube TV is lack of local sports programming.

If you get LP with cable (or Youtube TV), you also get online streaming LP access direct from the NBA app and I have been able to run two streams simultaneously. I split the LP 3 ways with two friends. This is why I would not get it from Amazon, as it costs the same but doesn't give additional streams.

I love Youtube TV's version to watch the Jazz as the SAP is just stadium noise and filters out the announcers. I'd pay double just to have that feature. :)

Fubo does not have TNT or TBS. That is a deal breaker for me.

That leaves Youtube or Directv. Directv is more for the base package, but you can get regional sports and they now have unlimited dvr.

If I lived in Utah Directv stream would be the only option. Or even better, get a friend that gets Fubo and you get Youtube and share logins. My bro shares his Youtube tv with 3 others in his local area. I tried to let a friend use my YTTV login in Utah, but it detected he was out of my home area so he quit using it.

NFL Game Pass.

Yeah. Could maybe get Direct TV’s cheapest package. And just keep the streaming services. Gotta consider that once our contract ends with Verizon. That said I also have hbo, showtime, starz, etc. every channel except Cinemax.

I think I'll do without Jazz games for the time being. That might change a few things and save me some money.

Jazz games are 100% the only sports I watch and even last season there were a lot of times when I had free time while a game was on and I did something else. I'm a Jazz fan but I care less and less about watching games.

If they don't want to make it easy I'm fine just not watching.

We had directv stream for the Jazz games. I cancelled it within the past month because that was the only thing we used it for. We’ll see if we get it again for the next season. If Donovan is still here then no. I’m going on a sabbatical.

Torrents or streaming services that are free/illegal. It is usually one app and much easier to deal with, oh plus its free. I would be happy to use some app and pay for it or even a couple but its not possible anymore. Then the whole Jazz game thing is just a nightmare while living in Utah. Living abroad league pass stuff is super cheap and no blackouts so I pay some years. But honestly its just as easy to click a link on my computer and watch the live game.

I am probably still going to watch most games out of morbid curiosity, with zero expectations. Could make for some fun times when they actually get a streak of some kind going or something. This next year will probably be the weirdest year in Jazz history as it is kind of the first truly manufactured tank year we have had. Yeah we had some bad years, but those still had guys on the team who could be great, as in high draft picks or premium players we were trying to build around. This is the first year in my 40+ years as a Jazz fan that feels straight up like a "**** it, whatever" kind of year. Could be interesting. Also could be that literally no one on the team now is here in 2-3 years depending on what we do in draft and trade to build the next contender.

Yeah I will likely just stream the games this next year and forego NBALP and all that. Will save me some money that is for sure.

Get a firestick. Get cinema HD app. Then you have hbo, netflix, prime, disney, hulu, and literally every other channel and streaming service in existence. You also have all the movies that are still in the theaters. Use a vpn.
Only thing you dont get is live sports. So you use the web browser on the firestick to go to sportsurge.net. Now you have every sporting event.

Zero dollars per month. (Actually like 10 per month for the vpn, though some vpn are free so it really could be zero per month)

Special Agent Avery, FBI Intellectual Property Crimes Division. Can you kindly provide me your full name, address, SSN and where you'll be at 4pm MST tomorrow so we can discuss privately how to set this up?

I was much the same way last year. Often I found myself doing other things instead of watching games. This last season was one of the least interesting seasons I can remember. The only times I can remember being less invested in the team were those dog days of the HaywardJeffersonCorbin experiment. It just really felt like this team had played out. Especially once Jingles went down.

I would take that a step further and say that last year was one of the most frustrating seasons of Jazz basketball I have ever had the misfortune to watch. The lack of effort, obvious locker-room issues, and obvious ignoring of Quin made it just painful to watch. Especially when just the year before we were among the elite of the league. To fall that far that fast is a sign of a FO highly talented in wrecking ****.

Is the quality good and is it reliable? I'm willing to pay something for not having a hassle to deal with on a regular basis.
