Lakers-Jazz Trade

I honestly don't think the Knicks were intending to go after Don this offseason. I think they were thinking that he'd hit the market in a year or two and that's when they'd be able to pry him away from us. It wasn't until Gobert got traded that they realized that his availability may have come a lot sooner than expected.
For their sake I sincerely hope so. If I’m better at team building than your gm you’re in serious trouble...

So instead of trading Duncan they will trade Lowry this year? Their starting pg? And they will take back a worse player with an expiring contract? Or they will attach assets (like a first) to get an upgrade or expiring player of equivalent value. Seems like either way they lose a first... one way uses a guy they benched the other uses their starting pg. They could play the year out and then try to offload Lowry into someone's space next year... which would require someone to have 30M in space and that will cost them what? Some picks.

Maybe they let Herro and Strus walk. Seems like they'd be packing in the Jimmy Butler era and calling it quits no? They still end up near the tax in that scenario too.

They could just upgrade themselves with Bogey and replace a guy they don't want to play... seems like an easier way to reduce salary while being competitive.

Basically they can choose to offload some players/picks and balance the books, watch talent walk out the door, pay a **** ton of LT (something they didn't even do for Lebron).

In Cy’s defense he has openly admitted he’s not a cap guy… then again why does he act like he is?

100%

It happened a year or two too early for their timeline

Yep. And then he could have actually requested a trade and given preferred destinations, which could have tanked his value and made them ACTUALLY have some leverage.

Yep, I really dont think Don wanted to go to NYK all that badly. I think he wants to go there eventually, if the situation is right. I dont think he would complain if he went there or anything, but it's just not a good situation for him right now in terms of on court situation. It'd be great for his marketing, but he's going to get that in 3 years when he goes to one of the big 3 market destinations (LA/Miami/NYK).

One of the best parts about all these threads lately is all the elaborate ways we trade every single player we got from the Don/Rudy trades, along with the rest of the roster.

78 1st round picks and not one actual human to wear a jersey. Keep being authentically you, Jazzfanzzzz.

When we’re continually told that “flexibility” and “cash considerations” can wear a jersey, it’s our way of finally buying in.

Totally agree with this. I think he eventually ends up in Miami unless they fall on hard times. I think his career dodged a major bullet not going to New York.

We can’t even trade Sexton until December 15th and I don’t think we should regardless but we have people wanting to trade him for more picks already lmao.

I’m wondering if we can trade our Minny picks for more picks… or if we put our Minny picks and our Cavs picks in a room together if the can make some pick babies for us.

I like Sexton, Lauri, Vandi. All are young and have skill sets that are known and needed.

But **** that, let’s see if we can trade them for 19th picks in drafts and see if we can get that same skill set back, ya know?

The thing is if you get the 2nd pick in the draft you are going to want to trade Collin Sexton.

Dudes are already trading him to Dallas by the deadline.
Yeah, I see no reason to deal him in season at all. Give him time to prove himself, see how he plays.

But him being a 5th year vet I need to see winning basketball from him. He needs to play well enough to where we give him rest days.
