Trade Confirmed: Jazz get jack for Bogey

Bizarre trade. Doesn't look like a DA trade at first sight but it actually is as he loves Olynyk and is probably about to finalize another major deal.

I also would have thought Bogey would be a good enough chip to rid ourselves of Rudy Gay... if we had a roster spot to give him without dumping a young player I'd just hold on to him... but now he hurts the cap and roster space.

Would you guys do Mike, JC, Gay, Doke or JB for Westbrook straight up... no picks? It actually saves them a bunch of cash... alleviates our roster crunch and is like a 5-10 game swing in the win/loss column for us.

Still the thing I'm most flabbergasted by is the fact that the Pistons have 9 total 2nd rounders to trade and Utah couldnt get one out of this.
Agreed.

Jazz are saving like $7mil in this trade. Maybe they preferred that kind of flexibility moreso than SRP's.
At least they have enough financial leeway under the tax to actually use one of those TPE's this season if the opportunity presents itself.

Great point by Andy.

It's still strange to me we held onto our core non-star guys so long. Where the Jazz actually considering running it back? I thought they might be included in the Don/Rudy deals, but we held onto them so long now everyone has their roster set and wants to see what they got to start the season, not make deals.

Then you be patient... trust me... the deal we did today or its equivalent would be available later. Unless they have follow up moves ready to go right now... this one really sucks.

At very least work Rudy Gay into the deal or get a second round pick. They easily could have done that. Danny got his dude... Ryan got his money... we got to complain.

Maybe also a solid for Bogey, but then again, we traded him to the Pistons. Just such a weird trade. Could we not just swap Clarkson and KO? That way we got off JC's future money.

I kinda smells a little like Danny saying "I ain't gonna argue with Troy over second round picks today... eff that... I got a tee time".

The JC trade doesn't save us money this year. I really think this deal comes down to two things:

1- Danny got a guy he wanted.
2- Ryan was likely a little nervous they would end up in the tax... so we did something now that moves us away from the tax. We have done a few moves like this in the past.

The more I Think about the trade the less I like it.
Its pretty stinky. I think it may push Vando into PF type minutes with KO... which is a good match... but then that cuts into Lauri at the 4 minutes... and Fontecchio may be best there too. If they bring KO off the bench its not much of an issue. I just get the feeling they won't play Vando at the 5 as much as I would.

Like at least make them eat the Gay deal and add in Diallo... these were the moves on the edges that bugged me during the DL era.

Yuck. Maybe. Getting some 2nds is more than fair.

I am not sure we have ever seen such consensus about a move. Not even drafting Broke in '20. Not even trading Gobert. It's kind of incredible.
