He could be seen as a good young player who’s undervalued on a good contract and he could be the centerpiece of a deal.
 
I would kick the tires on a Gay/NAW for Crowder trade. Buyout Crowder or maybe Memphis gets involved and we get Green.

I think we could do a Gay Butler deal… saves Phoenix some dough and everyone needs a Gay Butler.

Seriously though a deal like that where we get Green… Phx maybe gets a couple seconds from Memphis. We waive Green… offload Gays salary and consolidate the roster.

True, Gay/Butler would work. Waive Green or buyout Crowder and there is our 3 roster spots.
 
I don't think JB has any trade value at all. Its more just a camp flyer at this point.

The appeal in the Suns Gay deal is they would save 7-8M this year between salary and tax. Hopefully they replace some of Crowder's production... and maybe they get some seconds from Memphis. We'd clear some cap space for next year and the cost is only a couple million which we can now take because of the Bojan deal. Then we only need to make one more cut and we would have rid ourselves of a potential distraction and cleared some PT for the young guys.
 
if they can waive Mr Gay asap I can relax about having my kid read a headline saying Gay Sexton lead Jazz to 3rd quarter comeback

i can see that, but i still have some hope for dok. between dok and butler, even though i like butler, i'd have to jettison jb. just seems too small, not enough quickness, run jump athleticism or shooting for how small he is so the potential is limited. with dok's size, length and athleticism at least there is some potential there.

and i was a huge fan of the jared butler draft. the writing on wall seems to get clearer every time i watch him. if they keep him, i hope like hell i'm wrong.

Read @Tony Jones article this AM... gave it an awesome per usual.

He didn't speculate but I didn't notice mention of Lee or Dok in the guys the Jazz want to develop sections... I assumed Lee is a gonner, but I think Dok gets cut... I think Stanley Johnson gets moved into a TPE but was impressed with how mature he was... if he continues to impress I think they keep him and move on from JB.

TJ didn't say these things... this is me just guessing based on some of the names mentioned.
