Rest Easy, The Jazz Will Be Awful

OKC executed the type of trade we could have. They have zero healthy functional centers on their roster and sent Favs away for what? Creating one big roster hole like that is what can help a team with good parts still lose.

We filled the biggest roster hole with KO... then it turns out Kessler is actually good and ready to play minutes now. We are solid and two deep at like every position. We won cuz the bench destroyed the other teams bench... that will happen several times this year.

We still may get smacked by the opening season schedule and then pivot by making a Conley/Gay/KO trade as all the pieces seem to be raising their value. Just really need some load management. Thankfully one of the Rockets games is on the backend of a back to back... so maybe we can rest all the vets and lose one to Houston (who is exciting and athletic but still a ways to go).

R.Smith has said lately that we will built team through draft.
Players make Ainge looks silly if he is thinks about 1-3 pick.
This is only one game, there is any chance we will sustain that kind of basketball but It's clear that there are about 3 teams (OKC,SA,IND) worse than UTH.
We must be 1-3 if we want find franchise changing talent.

if you're a team like the Lakers in desperate need of shooting (assuming you think you can and should compete for a title) and you watched that game last night, how can you not give Utah a screaming deal for a guy like Gay or Markannen. crazy to waste lebron's last couple years with the franchise because you want to hang on to draft picks 4 or 5 years from now.

The Jazz being terrible relies on Hardy not playing guys like Clarkson/Conley/Olynyk/Beasley heavy minutes and instead giving dudes like NAW/THT/Sexton 20-25ish minutes per game. Right now only Sexton is getting that. And Sexton has been overall good. The Jazz really need lineups with all three of those dudes if they want to tank. Even THT has been positive in two games.

Kessler being advanced early has also hurt.

I honestly don't know what to expect anymore. Interested to see what happens when the Jazz face a team with a top 10 perimeter player.

If the Jazz continue to upset teams it will be interesting to see if they turn into a buyer rather than a seller.

It isn’t Hardy’s job to tank… it’s Danny’s. This is exactly what myself , @NUMBERICA and @KqWIN were saying. The team has too many good functional nba players and will be better than teams expect. Kessler being legit good three is over the top. Gonna be awkward to do it but they need to send Mike and a couple others packing. Ki think if I was DA I might troll pelinka and say “hey I’d you don’t want Mike, Beas, and others then maybe you guys coul send us AD or Bron for a couple picks?”

Sure, but I thought (hoped) there would be more emphasis on controlling Conley's minutes for "health" reasons.

Which is another thing I shot down… can really only do that on back to backs so it’s like 15 games or so.

I just love when some people on here see the fairly obvious thing and others lol it and then are like “well I thought the coach would play inferior players to make the team lose”. That’s never how tanking has worked… maybe in end of season where you run out mad dog Madsen and make him shoot threes… but it’s always the FO removing good players. They won’t manage Mikes minutes until it’s necessary due to schedule stuff. It will only affect like 15-20 games max.

It’s okay to just be like “**** I was wrong we are better than I expected”. But instead folks rationalize it by fabricating nonsense.

They meaning Danny is not sending anyone packing that is contributing to winning unless someone gives him an overpay out of desperation.
He has mad a few meh moves this summer on paper like getting KO , but guess who was dropping shots despite his clumbsy self. it added a dimension to the team they needed so he pulled the trigger.
I don't think they are interested in a full tank at all. They maybe never were, and expected the team to still produce knowing Sexton can get buckets like a poor mans Don and they haven't even had to use him much yet.
Jazz aint awful and I aint losing any sleep over it

Where did we get worse at from last year?

We lost Mitchell but we spread his touches to guys who are moving the ball more. Conley, Clarkson, Sexton, and Beasley getting more touches over Mitchell is better. At least Mitchell from last year.

We lost Gobert which hurts our paint defense and rebounding. But we gained better hands, better offense, and floor spacing.

We lost bogey but got an upgrade in almost everyway besides spot up shooting in Lauri. Not to mention we also picked up a huge energy/hustle/defensive guy as well.

We actually might just be better than last year with a **** ton of future picks. But I also might be drinking Kool aid.

We would have to get rid of Conley and Clarkson to tank, but that might not be enough. We probably need to get rid of guys like Lauri, Olynk, and Beasley. But I really don't want to get rid of them yet. I probably want Lauri for a long time.

Don't think it's crazy to have expected Sexton's minutes being a bit higher and Conley's a bit lower.

Look at those bad teams Sexton was on in Cleveland until of course last season when he hardly played before injury.
His team was nothing but disgruntled vets coming off finals runs embarrassed to be in a rebuild and then nothing but rookie starts and 2nd year guys with no
clue what they were doing and a different coach almost every season.
Sexton playing higher minutes than he is was expected and remains so after Mike is gone, but would not have equated to lesser production had it gone down from the j

It’s been awfully quiet from the guys lol’ing about Minnesota not being the best team in the league. People were acting like it was so obvious and how could I fathom them not being dominant.
