Currently the Jazz's main weaknesses are rim protection defense and defensive rebounding. We have Kessler, who has proven to be a solid rim protector/rebounder, but when he's in the game we can't run the more 5 out centric offense that has been the strength of the team.
Kelly Olynyk has been great, but he's constantly in foul trouble and despite great defensive IQ, can be a liability on defense.
Our best lineups currently involve two 6'ers, so that leaves the team vulnerable to teams punishing us closer to the basket.
Enter Myles Turner: One of the best rim protectors in the NBA who can allow the Jazz to still play a spaced 5-out style offense. He has very good theoretic synergy with Vanderbilt/Markkanen.
You'd wait until closer to the deadline to do this deal. The Pacers obviously know they arent going to be able to keep Turner long-term as he is a UFA next year. We also know the Pacers were a team that was interested in THT, so he may be a possible addition to the trade that makes Turner gettable w/ only a single first round pick.
