What's new

Don't be sad it's over, be happy it happened.

We're 10-6.
Yeah it is never gonna happen unless they gut "ALL" the vets, and they are not apparently going to. I don't see tanker now, even if they sell high JC or Mike like maybe they should. either especially if a upgrade at rim protection comes back in the deal.
it took 8 wins before the tank talk stalled, now a couple of losses in a row and its back to Wemby for Prez lol

Jazz caught some breaks the first few weeks of the season. They definitely caught a few teams flat footed.

They played New Orleans without Ingram/Zion who both got injured in the game.
They played Memphis without Ja the first game and without Bane in the 2nd game.
They played the Lakers without Lebron.
They played the Clips without Kawhi.

We're too good to tank but most likely not good enough to win a playoff series. Not a great spot to be in, especially during the first year of a rebuild.

We can easily be bad enough to tank by offloading a couple vets... And by tank I mean be in the 6-8 range. I don't know if a good enough deal materializes unfortunately.

I think it actually depends a lot on the expectations. We are overperforming which is building value and confidence. We can cash in that value by trading the pieces that dont fit our future, and our young guys building their skills by winning is better than building them by losing.

Also, being a playoff team makes us a more desirable target for trade candidates and FAs who want to win. Top players dont want to go to bottom feeders, so they block those trades.

That would make us worse for sure, but to truly be bad enough to get to that 6-8 range, I think we may have to trade all 3 of Conley, Clarkson and Olynyk. Say we trade Conley and Olynyk, we're still going to have our two best players in Lauri and Clarkson, plus Beasley, Sexton, Vanderbilt, Kessler, maybe Fontecchio even pops with more minutes. We may still have too much talent to be that bad.

You trade Olynyk and Conley and this **** is burning to the ground.

Replace KO and Mike minutes with a mix of more Sexton/Ochai/more Kessler and Doke gets the backup minutes... and we are right there. SA/OKC/Indiana are all better than expected because their main core young guys are all taking steps forward and in some cases huge steps forward. We also will have an injury or two... not having the depth to cover that injury causes losses. We are like 3 games away from that "range" right now... if Mike/KO weren't on the team we'd have easily lost at least 3 of those.

Its partly removing winning players but its also more about throwing developing players in the mix that will cause a bunch of losing.

Tank or develop the young guys trying
Thats what we should have done the year we ended up with exum. Lose a few more and we might have ended up with embiid. That can be the difference sometimes in losing a few more games or winning a few meaningless games. That team that season never had any chance at the playoffs like this team this season does. It was incredibly stupid that year to play the vets over the young guys.
