The *OFFICIAL* Russia Is About To Invade Ukraine Thread

Arguably the biggest winner from the midterms is Ukraine. Had there been a large MAGA wave, I think there would’ve been a guarantee that they would’ve lost aid. Now? There’s only a solid chance that the GOP cuts their aid.

I'm not the expert on how NATO will approach this as I know any attack on a NATO member is considered an attack on all, but assuming this was an 'accident', my guess is it won't change the game too much.
"accident" no..... It is political chess

So far, it seems to be a single missile, about 3 miles from the border, and that it is Russian is unconfirmed. Even if it was Russian, it's probably accidental.

If that's true Russia has fallen off in their chess playing ability to the point that it seems that can't play chess any better than they can fight a war.

What would that accomplish?

NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg on Wednesday echoed Duda's comments, saying the explosion was most likely caused by a defense missile fired by Ukraine while defending itself against the Russian strikes.

  • But he stressed that “this is not Ukraine’s fault."
  • “Russia bears ultimate responsibility as it continues its illegal war against Ukraine," he said.

Russia is no longer the great power they used to be as we are seeing in Ukraine. However, they thrive by causing chaos and making others uneasy. They admittedly have tried to impact elections (even if people can debate whether they have been successful or not) and create distrust in an attempt to weaken the resolve of other nations. They are not stupid enough to send dozens of missiles into a NATO country, but given their track record anything is possible from incompetence to just simply stirring up more chaos with one single stray missile slightly over the border. I understand and do not disagree with your stance. I'm just saying anything is possible with Putin.

Maybe Putin wants an excuse to launch the nukes for real. Dude is a psycho.

Sounds like the missile actually came from Ukraine. It was a missile or a fragment of a missile that Ukraine had fired to intercept a Russian one. New information is coming out all the time so it would be wise to refrain from making predictions of NATO retaliation or WWIII.

That is the story that everyone is going with for the sake of deescalation, but the most likely explanation is that this was a Russian rocket fired by Russia and landed on the Polish farm due to operator error. Two sites in Ukraine that have been the target of repurposed S-300 missiles are Kyiv and Lviv. If you keyed in the latitude of of Kyiv and the longitude of Lviv, it is the exact coordinates of the Polish farm.

I agree we may never know whose error it was, but that it was an error suffices to avoid NATO plunging into war.

Anyone know if AK47 lives in Russia? That would suck to be a millionaire former NBA star and be stuck there.
Eh, he was a darling of the state, gave them legitimacy hence his running of their basketball program for a while there. Putin likes the rich and famous. I'm sure he's fine either way.

Crazy thing I was thinking about. If Russia, instead of making Ukraine a Soviet Satellite State during the USSR days, had instead made the claim they are making now and just absorbed Ukraine as historically being part of Russia and called it Russia none of this would have ever happened because Ukraine would have not existed for the last 100+ years. But it was Russia who froze them out and starved them and treated them as separate and lesser than them during the early part and the rest of the Soviet empire.

You reap what you sow, as it were. Russia is about to fall because of this boondoggle. Putin is about to fall. Russia smashed themselves against their little brother and got wrecked.

This is like when BYU went independent and the Utes joined the PAC-12.
