Donovan Mitchell - CRT and Off Court Racial Issues were Draining

I’ve lived all over the country, west coast, east coast, the south, Utah. I recently moved to Philly, a predominantly black city. The sheer volume of black children and young adults being murdered here essentially daily has been the most draining thing I’ve maybe ever experienced from a city. The Philly area has about 1.8x the people of Utah total, but more than 6x as many murders.

Not sure the state of the world in Cleveland but I have a hard time imagining seeing black kids being murdered on the news literally every morning would be any easier to swallow than what’s going on in Utah.

As most of you say, idiot are everywhere including in SLC. But at the price we pay Don, he was supposed to make us win, which he didn't. He is not the only responsible but i'm glad he is gone. And i would put a lot of money on the fact that he will stuggle at PO again with the Cavs and find another excuse for the failure.
It will be fantastic we'got cavs picks.

What a giant load of bull. We aren't any different than any other city so to say it was draining is just stupid. I guess it wouldn't have been draining in other cities where rioters were burning down city blocks and crime and drugs were leading to thousands of people being shot every year.
No but most the fan base got very racist when he stopped coming to summer BBQ. I’m sure Donovan felt like the main dude on “Get Out” thankfully he did and now he’s thriving

Yeah, sorry JazzGal, racism is racism. There’s no good brand of it. And he’s absolutely racist. Like I said, some of you would run in to sugar coat, but it’s what it is….racism from a racist. I’ll say it’s racism when you know….it blatantly is.
Countering racism is not racism, and accepting racism without fighting it is not a solution to racism.

Racism - the belief that different races possess distinct characteristics, abilities, or qualities, especially so as to distinguish them as inferior or superior to one another.

Bigotry - obstinate or unreasonable attachment to a belief, opinion, or faction, in particular prejudice against a person or people on the basis of their membership of a particular group.

Prejudice - preconceived opinion that is not based on reason or actual experience.

Descrimination - the unjust or prejudicial treatment of different categories of people, especially on the grounds of ethnicity, age, sex, or disability
So I can say I am not bigoted, I hate everyone equally.

Man, this thread has me blocking fools like Kessler. The first sign of racism is always lack of empathy. If your first reaction is knee jerk blubbering to make yourself feel better with a bunch of “but…but…but” you’ve got some work to do on yourself. Get it done before Christmas if you can. Kudos to those pushing back on the latent racism.

1. A belief that race is a fundamental determinant of human traits and capacities and that racial differences produce an inherent superiority of a particular race

2. the systemic oppression of a racial group to the social, economic, and political advantage of another

An African American can be racist under definition 1 but not under 2.

It truly is a semantic issue.

The arguments for donovan being racist under definition 1 are lame, since he never expressed or implied that his race was superior.

DM was one of the greatest players to ever wear a Jazz uni, and he was an absolute pro from day 1 to the last day, and he brought joy to us when moron GH shoot us in the back tryin' to send us down spiraling to oblivion, and because whatever we think he is his own guy and he's a truly family dude, and because he was a good role model for kids, and.... for sure that's more than enough for me to cheer him and wish him and his family well.

If you like, I can list several black people that are racist under definition 2.

Adams isn’t just “some state rep” he’s a senator. He’s the majority leader of the Senate. I can definitely see why his comments irked Mitchell.

I also recognize selfish basketball. Those last two years were filled with bad selfish Shots, neglecting teammates (like Rudy), and zero defense.

I hope Mitchell has a long career. I think he’s a pretty good person. I truly wish him the best. I wished things had worked out. That core of Rudy, Jingles, and Mitchell were not only fun to watch but good for the community. I think he was a real advocate for the community. But I’m also glad he has moved on.

Wait… are you accusing… Mitchell of being racist? I have zero interest debating these issues in this forum but I just wanted to understand why you said better.

Why don’t you just simply address what I said. Did he ask Ainge to stay? Or was it such taxing he’ll he’s so happy to be out? Weird he’d ask for another year of that.
Garland could use oneye smh why don't you just admit you miss Don so much it hurts your feelings he never cared about you boo hoo hoo hoo hoo. go be a Cavs troll

What I took from the article is that the journalist really wanted to drive the mail that utah and Salt Lake City are so much worst than the rest of the nba franchise cities. I’ve lived in Midvale, UT as well as Vegas and I live currently in a little spot in South Carolina. I understand Mitchell feeling isolated off the court in Utah because the culture and faces there are very different than where I live currently or where he is from. I laughed a bit about the cop quote cause if he knew what some of the cops have done to my buddies out here…
All in all I think he is finally venting a bit. People need to realize that he was part of this relationship that soured too. He has a right to feel slighted as do some fans. Goes both ways. I do feel that the guy that wrote the article is super biased in painting a bad view of utah.
