Trade Rumors Involving the Jazz

A deal for Clarkson makes too much sense not happen in this situation. The salaries are super easy to match with Crowder and Okogie. It would have to be for their 2023 pick unprotected but that is a small sacrifice for giving them a great shot at the championship. The good thing for us is that adding Clarkson keeps them competitive with Booker and Cam Johnson out but not great so I think that pick ends up in the 18-22 range. Come playoff time though I think the trade makes the suns the championship favorite if Booker and Cam Johnson are also healthy.

I don't think we need a 4th pick in this year's draft. Having that many picks would devalue the rest of them as the league knows we aren't adding that many rookies and would downgrade the trade value because they know that we NEED to trade one or two. I's want a 2024 pick and maybe look into that swap for this year as previously mentioned.

DA isn't trading Lauri....at least not at this point.

TBH I doubt any team in their right mind would trade 4 FRP's after what just happened to Minnesota.
Yeah I just mention it cuz new owners are dumb and I keep hearing how much OG would get on the trade market and thinking Lauri would get a bit more.

That Brooklyn pick swap could be pretty nice with the Suns pick. I’d send Beasley and Vando out for Saric/Crowder and a top 8 protected 2024 pick if we can land the 2023 pick swap too. I think we can still tank to the 7/8/9 spot… when combined with where Minny will land we may still have like a 50% shot at a top 4 pick.

I think we need to have some urgency to add good young talent to this core of building around Lauri/Walker is the plan. Need to focus in on this years draft.

Just because you have a 4th pick doesn't mean you use it. It puts us in a position to combine 2 or even 3 picks to move up or maybe a team wants to jump into the 1st and we switch it with a future pick. It gives us a ton of flexibility.

Yeah, but the picks have more value when the threat of "we are just fine using the picks to add players" is valid. If everyone knows we have to trade a pick, we theoretically lose a "bidder" (ourselves) as a suitor for the pick.

Who says no... Phoenix offers 23/25/27/29 firsts (no protections) with Crowder/Saric/Shamet for Lauri and JC?

I don't think we would entertain any offers for Lauri that aren't 200 cents on the dollar but if there was a conversation I wonder how far they'd go. We would certainly enter the tank race with that one.
I love Lauri but I would do that after the allstar game. Maybe add a pick swap too. That's crazy valuable when Chris Paul stops playing. They were a lottery team without him.

John Collins has 20 points and 10 rebounds with 11 minutes left in the 3rd. JazzFanz told me he sucks though.

Apparently few days ago we made another offer for John Collins. This is the same guy from Hawks board who called the two other trade talks before they were in twitter feeds. Says he knows someone from FO.

Beasley + Gay + 2 protected firsts for the years where Hawks have no picks (due to Murray trade). Doesnt detail protection level though.

So the Jazz went from demanding multiple first to offering multiple first?

God I wish I could post on that board to call out that idiot.

No it doesn't. Gay has a tiny salary so dumping him isn't a big deal.
He is still a negative asset in the trade.. and we dont know what those protections were.

We might have been milking the Suns on the 3 way deal also. Never wanted to give those guys to them.

He did report the previous 3 way discussion and our initial interest in Collins before it was public knowledge... so he has some source. Wouldnt just randomly guess Utah is interested.. would he.

Dont know how legit the source is and if the source knows who is offering and who is asking though.. maybe just overhears deals that are on the table.

Actually that sort of makes more sense, if they were asking for that package instead of us offering it.

Anyways, I know the guy has known some stuff beforehand so I think the writing on the wall is that we are still negotiating about Collins and neither side has shut it down.
