Trade Rumors Involving the Jazz

Ok , I’m going to say it

I don’t get the whole Woj thing , so 99% of trades are revealed by him or has his name attached to it , it’s like he takes the credit for finding all the info out , or rather GMs just ring him to tell him to put it out to the media .

He is just the middle man that answers the phone and passes information on , I mean even Cy could do that .

Maybe I’m just having a George Costanza moment
Yes, people tell Woj stuff and he reports it. Is he supposed to read a crystal ball?

Supposedly Milwaukee trying to upgrade by putting a few second round picks with Grayson Allen. If you can move Beasley for first round value I think you could likely do a three team deal with Phoenix and Milwaukee... Allen comes home to Utah, Vando to Phoenix, Crowder to Milwaukee. We Bucks throw in some second round picks... Phoenix ponies up a protected first... the seconds milwaukee sends go to utah and phoenix.

Phoenix gets a cheap rotation player and saves a **** ton of money this year. We'd have to send out one filler salary.

Allen is a similar player to Beasley imo... he just is going to get picked apart in the playoffs and that is why the Bucks shop him. I think Allen would actually be a better fit as he is a better passer. Makes 8.5M this year and next.
I found it… the trade that got me a @kcgar thumbs down. Time to re-evaluate I guess.

Maybe he wants to take up the mantle Don left. I’d have my concerns about his happiness long term as Utah is uhhhhh not diverse. I wonder if he’d be happy playing for a good team in a good role and getting his big payday. If he is traded I’d guess that he wanted a new contract they weren’t willing to give him. I think he’s worth it but the front office ownership situation aren’t ideal there… so owners may just see dollars and get nervous. I would bet that Dame is not with the Blazers by the end of next season.
He left a good team and a good situation in Denver. Unless he's changed I don't see any way he wants to stay in Utah. I wouldn't take the risk on him. I'm not sure why people have been pushing to trade for him after he left Denver. He made it pretty clear what he wanted and it wasn't Utah.

Is Collins that much of an upgrade over Vandy? Dunno much about him
He is a 20/10 upside guy with better defense... whereas Vando is more like 15/10 (and that is being generous to Vando, since Collins has produced 20/10 and Vando best season is this season with 8.5/8). Offensively Collins is a good shooter and an elite lob finisher and PnR guy.. which is one reason why Capela being healthy drops his numbers. He is not great with the ball in his hands and doesnt self create.. so spot up, PnR and lobs.

Vando is a better passer and ballhandler as well.. but the difference is not great. For shooting.. Vando starter the year hot and Collins started it cold as ice but he has a history of being much better and more frequent 3P shooter taking 3-4 attempts per game for his career (career avg .359 and career best season .409).

Vando is 2 years younger though... but since both are young I dont see that as a huge advantage. Biggest advantage for Vando is his contract. Collins' is not good.. albeit I personally think he can live up to that.

Check out this highlight reel from last year and that gives you a clear idea about the type of things he does that Vando doesnt.

Tbh.. I'm much more high on OG than Collins who I still like (but less now that OG is a possibility lol).

I just love the idea of Kessler setting screens on point of attack while having a 2 headed monster to crash the paint from either side or shoot the corner 3s when the opponent is forced to play help defense. Both Lauri and Collins crash the offensive glass as well, which is what Hardy loves and advocates for... generating 2nd chance points.

While Collins numbers looked bad early season.. when Capela was injured his numbers changed completely. Between Dec 28th and Jan 15th he played with Okongwu as Capela was injured and his averages went up to 16.3 PPG 8.8 RPG 1.4 BPG despite his 3PT shooting still being off.

That 3P% drop has had be more worried ever since someone reminded me about his freak finger injury last year... I dont know if that has been the major factor in his shooting and recently he has been trending up on his 3P% but definitely a concern.

Yeah the main issue for me is the contract. $25m a year? I dunno, that could be cheap in a couple of years, but as of right now that looks kinda steep to me if we're not yet contending..

This is why DA was adamant that they add a pick to the trade... and likely will continue to demand that if the package going to them is Beasley and Vando.

Why would that be a surprise? All three rumors have pointed that way and it's pretty normal for DA. It also makes sense with Lauri.
What?

If you mean the JC/OG move, those could be construed as win now moves, but we might be giving up more immediate pieces to make those things happen.

I mean something like we trade Brooklyn's first for somebody, without really giving up a key rotation piece.

I keep going back to Josh Hart. Matt Moore on Locked on said Portland will do something but that it wouldn’t include Grant, Dame, or Simons… said it would more likely be Hart or Nurkic. It would make some sense with their salary stuff and now that GP and Little are healthy.

If we do a “win now” move I hope it is low budget like that one. KO and Vando for Hart and Winslow… not sure if there is a pick one way or another.

Any trade with Portland has to be neutral on salary as they are barely under the tax line.
