2023 NBA Draft Megathread

No... that's why its my legit top ten. Let me take a stab at it...

Wemby
Scoot
Miller
Black - Yup I said it.
Whitmore
Hendricks
Wallace
Thompson - You decide which one
Thompson - See above
Jett/Dick/Wallace

I don't want to say I've been underwhelmed with Black....but I had really high hopes and was kinda hoping for more production.

Talking just box score or what exactly? Honest question.

Tbh, mostly. When I was reading up on him prior to the season, I thought there was a chance he could shoot up and be a Lonzo/Haliburton/Giddey type prospect. I love these types of draft prospects. His production has been fine, but probably more in line with what others had expected instead of my lofty expectations I had on him before he played a college game. Maybe I'd feel differently if I watched all his games.

I will say, however, that there was some concern he would be a total zero in terms of scoring....and he's somewhat dismissed those claims.

One thing to consider about Ainge's drafting record....he does seem to have a bias/preference towards the highly rated guys out of high school, even if they didn't perform up to expectation in college. Especially the guys that "look the part".

Langford, Brown, James Young, Avery Bradley, Sullinger, Fab Melo etc...I think these are all guys who had their stock fall during their college careers. Before that he drafted Gerald Green and Al Jefferson straight out of high school.

I’m not nearly as knowledgeable as most here, but I’m still high on Black. I actually prefer him not completely showing out in college to keep him in our probable draft range. I feel there’s potentially something special there, but maybe that’s just because I want it to be there because I would really like a good sized point guard and get tunnel vision occasionally. My only real concern is his shot. It’s not great technically, but certainly not broken.

Huh. I'm high on kratom.

He has shades of those guys... but those guys are all kinda different. I think his production is not super far off of Lonzo's college production. Assists are lower but Lonzo had some great teammates (for college players). I mean Thomas Welsh has still never missed a 15 footer. I don't think he is as good of a passer as Lonzo or Giddey... not as good of a shooter as Tyrese... but he won't have the issues finishing that Lonzo had. Lonzo's shot had to be re-worked too even though it went in a lot.

I'm all in on Black... Amen is probably the better big pg prospect but I have my doubts on the jumper and what he'd look like on an NBA floor. Its partly the off court stuff on Black too... he's the gym rat type and everyone raves about his approach/personality.

Here is one dilemma that I have with prospects. I only get to watch maybe 1 game of each of the prospects and my opinion starts to get fashioned off what I saw in that game. After that, it is hard to get that 1 game out in my opinion.

There is a dude on Youtube that cuts together games like these NFL games where its just the plays and no other fluff in-between. I'd recommend going that route over just highlight videos.

Honestly not the type of game you’d come away impressed with a guy but I was. Did a lot more beyond just score in big sections of the game.

Side note: Miller a non-factor right now in this Bama v Miss St game. Miss St playing out of the their minds right now and Bama not moving the ball outside of Miller on the few touches he’s gotten.
i was impressed GG in that game too. pretty inefficient, but he looked so damn skilled. as far as miller, even when he's a non-factor and had a mediocre game he's pretty good. 5-9 FGs, 13 pts, 6 rebs, 2 asts, 3 steals. and literally every oad prospect not named zion had games like that where either they didn't do much or they were just plain bad.
