2023 NBA Draft Megathread

Jarace has taken a big step forward in conference play. Think he's in Brandon Miller's tier.

Tier 1: Wemby

Tier 2: Scoot

Tier 3: Miller, Jarace

Tier 4: Like 20 prospects

I still have a lot of draft work to do to catch up but given our core I believe our greatest needs are playmaking and perimeter defense. So for me if available an elite Guard prospect in the top 10 that is a positionally sized playmaker that can defend well I’m all in. So for me Anthony Black and Cason Wallace are getting a lot of my attention right now. Anthony Black had 5 steals against Cason's Wildcats and his court vision is great based on highlights. I have yet to watch a full game of his.

Is there any reporting out on who the Jazz like?

I could come around on Anthony Black. The kid's 19 and has enough tools and natural talent that the Jazz could complete his Jedi training.
Honestly if Sexton is going to be good and part of the future Black is theoretically close to perfect. He’s a connector good defender… only thing is the shot. He’s an A++ guy off the court and with regard to work ethic apparently. He may not be an all star but I think he could have all star impact.

The next 25 will be interesting… but I think I might let JC walk unless we get him fairly cheap. I think I’d like to get away from ball stopping. If you got Black or Wallace and then picked up Lewis, Dick, Jett, Hawkins I think I’d like that alignment better at the guard/wing.

Tony Jones loves the draft and I’m not sure he’s sharing intel or just stating dudes he likes but he’s mentioned Black a bunch.

@Tony Jones its time for you to stop by and drop knowledge… you know which guys are higher on the Jazzs list… what about your own personal list for the Jazz.

Okay, fair enough. Here is the first sentence of your post:

And it makes no sense at all to me. If you are saying that you have no chance at a top pick if you are not in the top four of lotto odds, then you are objectively wrong, and all recent lottery history proves it. Please explain your statement so that I can understand. Bonus points if you can explain it with 'facts'.
nice try last draft one team outside the top 4 moved into it from 7th the other three teams in the top 4 were already there.
the previous draft 1 team outside the top 4 moved into the top 4 again from 7th the other 3 teams stayed int he top 4 that were already there.
The previous year 2 teams outside the top 4 moved up from 7 and 8 not 5 or 6. the previous draft was the only one where being outside the top 4 turned out to be lucky again with 2 teams at 7th and 8th moving up and a team with bad odds moving up to 4th from 11th.
Jazz just beat them "win now- never tank" Raps and clearly the plan for us is to win playing good players not scrubb g leaguers.
I said it would take the gleaguers starting to become anywhere near the high lottery club this late in the season. But after review of the
teams that move up if history is some kind of indicator picks 5 and 6 are a bad spot to be at before the lottery anyway smh.

Hardy and these players are hungry to prove they are worthy of this league and will NOT tank, without more intentional benchings.
Yes the sell off by Ainge was a obvious attempt to go full tank to finish the season, at first glance,
but at the same time he knows damn well it would fire the remaining pieces up, and he could find out of any of them were actully worth keeping.
I get what he did now more than at first. His thinking is solid. If they fail fine, we needed a better shot at the grand prize, albeit not much better of one, but if they win half the games to close the season or are even better than before the sell off, we didn't NEED Wemby anyway.
I think we are drafting 10-16 range

If we don't want to draft Hawkins I will be shocked. He has the moxy in the paint now, fighting for rebounds and showing big boy toughness for a wing today. Love this kid for us.

Thats the guy I want most right now.

I have to imagine he is one of those guys that pretty much every team will have some interest in. At this point I'm guessing he is firmly in the 10-18 range.

I’m so out… I mean I’d take him with the Philly pick but I just don’t get the crazy love some have for him.

Still top 6 for me. I'm hoping Minny's pick falls late lotto and we can grab him there. Nothing changes for me. His team sucks. His coach sucks. He can't get open looks or passing angles. If he dropped out to prepare for the draft I'd have no problem with it.

Fili with the massive egg so far today. This draft is going to be really unpredictable with how inconsistent most of the players are. One game a guy looks great and the next game he leaves you unsure.

When I look at him even when he is struggling I see a guy with a skillset that fits this era of ball perfectly and his upside is through the roof. If we could get him with the minny pick I would consider it a homerun.

I was really down on him early in the season but after watching some complete games I’m sold on his upside.

Going to a ****** school when you had unlimited options so you could get unlimited minutes then being a baby at the slightest adversity is a major red flag.

He's super young still, so he's gets somewhat of a pass, but still a red flag
