Official Utah/Minnesota/Philadelphia Pick Watch

After tonight, Timberwolves pick currently 16th, Jazz pick tied for 13th.

Are Lauri, Kessler and Ochai gonna be worse off if we sit them for the remaining 10 games of the season?

What if our picks are 7th and 16th?

Wouldn't that be much better for us next year?

I think you still want to give Ochai and Kessler as many minutes as possible the rest of the season so they can keep developing and getting better. There is definitely an argument for sitting Lauri the rest of the season, but he's competitive and wants to play, and he still has things to play for...I'm sure he would like to make the playoffs for the first time in his career and make an All-NBA team. Not worth risking fracturing the relationship between Lauri and the organization to move up a few spots in the draft IMO.

It's amazing we're even having this conversation. Losing Conley, Beasly, Vanderbilt, and NAW in a trade and Sexton and Clarkson to injury should've been enough to cause the losses to pile up and put us in a better draft position.

Lauri can still make the All NBA Team without making the playoffs, no?

I mean he's ready there with or without these last 10 games, IMO.

7 teams (from 6 to 12) are with 36 or 37 losses in the West. Everyone from that group is between 4-6 and 6-4 in 10 game form, except OKC who is 7-3.

LMAO.

But its still anyones game to win/lose (depending on which way you want the team to go). Any seed from that range is still in play for all the teams involved, and none of them are tanking.

Our tiebreaker wins within that group:
Pels for sure
LAL likely, unless we lose both remaining games against them (then its a toss up due to identical conference record)

Our tiebreaker losses:
Mavs and GSW for sure
Minnesota and OKC extremely likely, unless we win all three of OKC+POR+DEN

I was thinking about Luka Garza the other day. Apparently, he’s looked pretty decent in his limited opportunities. I wouldn’t spend big money to get him, but I think I’d rather see the Jazz sign him over Naz Reid at this point. Think he could be an interesting “buy low” backup big to Kessler that brings a different style of game to the floor.
Garza is a beast at times... I like him as a weirdo backup big. Its fun at very least.

I mean of course its possible that he comes in with all guns firing and plays awesome... but that usually doesnt happen after lengthy injury and new PG also kinda messes things up for him (DLo was his man also).

He has never played with Conley, has been out for long so takes adjusting.... also he is pushing Jaden McDaniels out of starter and him + Naz Reid minutes down and those two have been great for the Wolves on many games.
McDaniels will still start.

There will be rust and it wasn't working all that great when he bowed out. Anderson/McDaniels/Rudy allows for a tough defense. Throwing Towns in there will be an adjustment. A 1-2 game adjustment period may provide just enough of a stutter to help keep them in the 10 spot.
