2023 NBA Draft Megathread

The sheer confidence Dean has in everything he says, especially non basketball related stuff, is entertaining if not admirable lol. Definitely tries too hard to be different.

I know he has fallen off the radar, but I still like Caleb Love out of North Carolina. He's a junior, but I think he would have been a first round pick a year or two ago, but now likely won't even get drafted. I would love it if we could bring him into camp or even if we acquired a late 2nd and claimed him if he declares.

He was never a first round pick. 3 straight seasons of shooting sub 38% from the field means you are a scrub.

IDC how good he is or isn't... if we draft Grady and don't acquire Caleb to form the Dick Love Backcourt it will be a huge opportunity lost.

IF NBA spacing was some magical pill for every prospect no one would fail in the NBA. You can say "oh spacing" but what about when Brice goes against NBA length? Because dealing with college spacing wasnt really an issue for Brice.

And the dude averages 1 assist on insane usage numbers. I think his passing has been properly rated.

Also spacing will work against him. If his D is bad on a college spaced floor, how bad will it be on a NBA floor?
This guy gets it

I think Brice is a guy I’d be comfortable missing on. Dude is a bucket but the other stuff is a problem obviously… you might end up feeling a little dumb if the guy is an awesome scorer and the other stuff evens out… because the scoring stuff was obvious of course he’s gonna be good.

There are guys I love and guys I’d really love someone else to love so they take them and push the other guys I love down a spot or two… I really hope Brice gets some hype somewhere in the process and someone takes him in front of us.

I think Sensabaugh is booty. I don't usually proclaim bust but the only way he sees the court is if he is so lights-out at the NBA level that you can't keep him off the floor. Problem is you have to get on the floor first.

We should get a list going.

Anothony Black
Keyonte George
Nick Smith if he even still counts
For reals though... I'd say

George
NSJ
Sensabaugh
Jett Howard
Jalen Hood-Schifino
Rayan Rupert
GG Jackson - to piss off @Ferguson_Mellochill
and the team captain (for me) is Kyle Filipowski.

You take Black off that list right now.... Right. Now.
If someone took Black and it pushed Kendricks or Cason to us I'd be over the moon.

Black suffers for me because I've actually seen him play. It's not fair, but I have been extremely unimpressed. If he was a way more natural fit in the NBA and looked a lot better there, I wouldn't be surprised, but I can't forget how he's looked in the games I've watched. Maybe that will change this weekend?

Also Cason's hair>>>Anothony's hair

If Jazz took Black though I'd immediately get super excited about his talent and Hardy's development. So I suppose we can take him off that list.

The games this weekend will not change your mind. That Arkansas team was supposed to be so fun and it is just hard to watch at times. Black is also nursing an ankle injury. With Black some of the games early and some of the non-obvious stuff he does just intrigues me. I am likely overlooking the flaws way too much. There is also the off court stuff I heard from some niche podcasts and they just rave about the kid as a gym rat and stuff... he is at every camp possible. There was a story about him showing up to a camp like a few days after the team usa stuff ended... and Nick Smith had told the person he wasn't coming and then showed up... when asked why he said Black wore him out and he knew he had to show up.

Sorry for the long anonymous story but that is when I started watching him more closely. He may not figure it out but I think he will get the most out of his opportunity. I will bet on kids like Black... and if you are wrong it won't be because they didn't like 3 hour practices.

I actually love both Cason and Anthony... in part because I think they have 100% bought into what their team needs and are doing what their coaches ask... even if their coaches are dummies. So many high level guys are just kinda gunning and forcing stuff... and they are kinda the opposite... play their role and let things come to them. Give me one of those guys and Hendricks and I will cry.

Hard to call Arkansas coach a dummy when he got this team into the sweet 16 w/ the injuries they've dealt with.

I edited to say I'd be excited by the talent right after we got him. So we can take him off the list. I never really go out on a limb on prospects. And don't wanna be down on a guy like that. Could definitely be an L down the line.

Let the record state, I'm officially neutral on Anthony Black.

I've come down a bit with him because I just watched them so much and just kept wanting more. I definitely understand why some are skeptical... its justified.
