2023 NBA Draft Megathread

Hard to call Arkansas coach a dummy when he got this team into the sweet 16 w/ the injuries they've dealt with.
He got a big game from Davis and has like 4 guys who will check into an NBA game at some point. I don't know if he is a dummy... but he might be okay and still be a super dunce when compared to Will Effing Hardy.

I don't hate Brice, but I understand the concerns and I'm glad that people are starting to realize that playing defense is a thing. A few years too late on realizing that that all offense, no defense players aren't untouchable.....but better late than never.

We were getting blasted to a historical degree in the playoffs year after year and people still weren't willing to explore trades for more defense :p

The games this weekend will not change your mind. That Arkansas team was supposed to be so fun and it is just hard to watch at times. Black is also nursing an ankle injury. With Black some of the games early and some of the non-obvious stuff he does just intrigues me. I am likely overlooking the flaws way too much. There is also the off court stuff I heard from some niche podcasts and they just rave about the kid as a gym rat and stuff... he is at every camp possible. There was a story about him showing up to a camp like a few days after the team usa stuff ended... and Nick Smith had told the person he wasn't coming and then showed up... when asked why he said Black wore him out and he knew he had to show up.

Sorry for the long anonymous story but that is when I started watching him more closely. He may not figure it out but I think he will get the most out of his opportunity. I will bet on kids like Black... and if you are wrong it won't be because they didn't like 3 hour practices.

I like a lot of the things he brings to the table and his defense especially....but he's got no indicators of good shooting. That doesn't mean he won't be a good shooter, but he will be overcoming the odds in a big way if he becomes an average or above average shooter. Bad 3FG%, bad FT%, low atttempts, no mid range game, ugly form.....I know the spacing is bad for ARK but he is contributing to that problem. Without a good shot he's probably a decent role player...but he's just meh on offense as a whole. The more I watch him, the more I see a Terance Mann type. Which isn't a bad thing....Terrance Mann is probably a top 10ish player in his class and Black comes with some upside.

I've gone back and forth, but I'm leaning towards Cason > Black atm. Black is a more prolific slasher, but I believe in Cason's shooting and PnR play more and both are great defensively.

He's been one of the best college coaches of the past 5 years.
I had him bottom 5 in my annual coach rankings... look I don't know how good he is... but I watched them run pick and roll to nowhere and pump fake and drive to nowhere and watched guys go under way under picks and his ballhandlers don't even think about pullup threes. I also saw his team win and he took off his shirt and spun it around his head... I heard he streaked the quad too.

Maybe its just college basketball but at some point I think I would take a 25% shot at a three pointer instead of the fourth or fifth pump and go drive to nowhere.

I agree for the most part... I just decided to cover my eyes and use blind faith. I am basically split on him and Wallace.

Someone talk me out of liking Marcus Sasser.
Think of the dumbass things our commentators would say... Sassy hoop by Marcus... Marcus Sasser more like Marcus Saucer... with a K. Marcus Sasser for three... oh they are only giving him a two.

I like Wallace. Wouldn’t mind seeing the Jazz draft some defensive minded guys and try to develop their offense.
I would guess he's the consensus pick around here for where the Jazz might be drafting. I'm on board also.

Weird comp, but he reminds me of a big Mike Conley. Conley did not have a good jumper then and it took him time in the NBA to find it. Wallace actually has significantly better shooting splits from the stripe and from 3.

Yeah, weird comp, I'm not sure I see it, but I like both players, so I'm good with it.

Is doug mcdermott a comp for sensagaugh?

I think Brice is a guy I’d be comfortable missing on. Dude is a bucket but the other stuff is a problem obviously… you might end up feeling a little dumb if the guy is an awesome scorer and the other stuff evens out… because the scoring stuff was obvious of course he’s gonna be good.

There are guys I love and guys I’d really love someone else to love so they take them and push the other guys I love down a spot or two… I really hope Brice gets some hype somewhere in the process and someone takes him in front of us.
