This always felt like a scheduled win. Glad that THT had a good night and got his career high. I’ve been a fan of his for awhile now. Glad to see things coming around.
Really love Will Hardy. When the scrubs started messing up due to the press, he didn’t freak out. Didn’t panic. Just slowed his team down. He looked pissed, but he was always in control. He’s going to be a damn good coach. DA made a GREAT hire to lead this team.

Spurs fans are sad, but if we had to win I think we deserve the THT praise. Also their unfiltered feelings about Samanic getting pt on a 10 day. Should be an interesting quotes thread.

Nah. Jazz have a good idea of what he brings to the table. You need to throw the 10 day guys out there to see if it’s worth keeping them around. Worked with Dunn and looked pretty good with Brantley - even though he didn’t get a second one. So far, jury is still out on Samanic.
This tank is so bad Russia is going to deploy it in Ukraine.

Most of you Whipper snappers are too young to remember this, but the Spurs were a very good team. Then David Robinson, the Admiral, got hurt one year and they drafted some kid out of Wake Forest with the first pick who became the greatest power forward of all time. They haven't won anything since that kid, the Big Fundamental aka Tim Duncan, retired. They are the original tankers. Pop was on the bench then too. He knows what he is doing.

I'm not sure what the age cutoff to remember this is, but this was thee first quintessential tank. Popovich went from front office to coach and from then on they had 20 years of success and multiple championships. It's why many people on this board are rooting for losses.

The Spurs dynasty was based on a Big Three. The other two guys were Manu Ginobili (drafted at #57) and Tony Parker (drafted at #28).

Anyone who is a fan of "tanking for Duncan" should be a fan of what the Celtics did that year, not the Spurs.
1) Celtics had best odds (twice as good total as Spurs)
2) Celtics had 2 lottery picks
3) Celtics finished with the lowest record of all teams eligible for #1
4) Celtics planned to tank all year. Spurs were meant to make a playoff run.
So in terms of tanking Celtics did everything right and Spurs just had incredible bad luck followed by incredible good luck.

Sure! But that stuff is relatively easy when you have a legit nucleus as simple and easy to build around as Tim Duncan.

Well, you can't end there. Now the rest of the story........Celts ended up drafting Chauncey Billups at #3 and traded him 51 games into his rookie year. And, Ron Mercer at #6 who played two years with the Celts. Tank didn't work out so well for them. It ain't the panacea most think.
