Donald is about to go through some things...

Paying blackmail is a different category than paying for campaign research. I don't understand why you think they are the same.
But he’s not being indicted for blackmail. It’s for not disclosing funds that we’re supposed to be used for his campaign if I’m reading it correctly. Which is the same thing that Hillary paid a fine for with the Steele dossier

I don't know. Probably they didn't commit the same crime.
If Clinton committed a crme and deserves prosecution then a prosecutor should bring that case in front of a grand jury and try to get them to recommend an indictment.
She paid the fine. From what I have read it’s the same thing Trump is being accused of. I’m asking what the difference in the crimes were. I’m not even taking a political side with this…. Just don’t know how these crimes differ.

I have no idea the difference either. I bet you would find better and more accurate answers on a forum about law full of lawyers and judges and whatnot

Recent administrations with the MOST criminal indictments:
.
Trump (Republican) — 215
Nixon (Republican) — 76
Reagan (Republican) — 26
.
Recent administrations with the LEAST criminal indictments:
Obama (Democrat) — 0
Carter (Democrat) — 1
Clinton (Democrat) — 2

Trump used his campaign funds for personal expenses (paying a blackmailer). Clinton used campaign funds for campaign research. According to the headline you posted, the fine Clinton paid was for improper disclosure, which is not improper use.

if justice demanded that Michael Cohen go to jail for a scheme directed by someone else, justice also requires that the person responsible for directing the scheme must answer for their offenses against the law — and that person is Donald Trump."

Former President Donald Trump faces more than 30 counts related to business fraud in an indictment from a Manhattan grand jury, according to two sources familiar with the case.

Earlier Thursday, a spokesperson for Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg said the office has contacted Trump's attorney to "coordinate his surrender" for arraignment on "a Supreme Court indictment, which remains under seal."

"Guidance will be provided when the arraignment date is selected," it added.

Trump will likely appear in court early next week, his defense attorney said.

In essence, I was wrong. I’ll take the L. But I don’t think it will amount to anything. A fine. Something like that.

On this charge I agree. I don't think it will result in prison time.

Serious question: Why wasn’t Hillary indicted for paying for the Steele dossier? It seems to me that both trump and hillary have broken the same law when it comes to using fraudulent funds for other than stated purposes and both should be prosecuted. Yes I think trump deserves to be indicted.
I think a better question is how did we tolerate as a society, a president who led chants to lock up his political opponents? And now he wants everyone to presume his innocence? What happened to Hillary being presumed innocent? What was Hillary even guilty of? Vince Foster? Seth Rich? Not keeping Bill satisfied? Benghazi? Campaign research???

It’s just weird to see the same people who have called for Clinton and Biden to be sent to the guillotine without ever being indicted for anything, are now circling the wagons and demanding that Trump’s innocence be maintained until the trial begins.

I think I made it pretty clear that I think trump should be indicted. I’m just wondering if what my friends complain about (double standard) exists. To be honest I think trump Hillary bill and bush have all gotten away with way too much and we as a society stand back and do very little to curtail anyone’s behavior in politics. I’d like to think that we would t all just vote down party lines but that seems more the norm now days. Every politician and now constituent is being forced to take hard lines.

I’m more concerned about term limits then I am any of the finance issues we are seeing. Just my 2 cents.

Hillary used campaign funds to pay for campaign research, which is legal. Who else should pay for it? Trump paid hush money, which isn’t legal. His own lawyer went to prison over it. Why shouldn’t Trump?

The only double standard I’m seeing is that those on the right think Hillary and Hunter should’ve been crucified and burned at the stake for ill-defined conspiracies while they think Trump should be let off for clear violations of the law.

The law shouldn’t change based on your tribal affiliation. We are a nation of Law and order, right?

Did republicans get super upset when cohen was convicted and sentenced to time in jail for basically the same crime? I dont remember seeing the outrage at that time.

In response to tweet in the spoiler where lindsay grahm is helping trump with his grifting: “If we nominate Trump we are going to be destroyed, and we’ll deserve it.” - Lindsey Graham, 2016
Good find.

Another one is Mitch McConell. He had two impeachments where he could’ve ended Trump. The first one would’ve left Pence as president. Pence had a shot to win in 2020. Then, after Jan 6 he had another impeachment. Had he ended trump, the GOP could be coalescing around DeSantis without any fear of Trump ****ing with them. Hell, they probably would’ve retaken the Senate in 2022 and probably would be in great shape to compete for the White House in 2024. As it currently stands, their frontrunner has tightened his grip on Republicans just as he’s being dragged down to hell by our justice system.

I’m not as religious as I used to be. But a primary hymn I used to sing at church went something like, “Do what is right and let the consequence follow.” The GOP should’ve done what us 8 year olds at church were told. They could’ve avoided all of this. They could be focused on torturing immigrants, incarcerating black people, ignoring climate scientists, and cutting taxes for rich people instead!

Is there any evidence that Soros even contributed to Bragg’s campaign or has met him? or is this just your typical MAGA being anti-Semitic? MAGA’s “economic anxiety” is really showing tonight.

“THAT BLACK MAN PAID BY THE JEW IS GOING AFTER OUR ORANGE GOD KING!”

Another, “stabbed in the back” conspiracy? @Red im guessing you’re reading this similarly, right? I don’t know how else to read “Soros backed” prosecutor.
