Trade up? What are you willing to give up?

On my board, there is a drop off after 15. But I think there’s a pretty good chance one of Keyonte, Bufkin, GG, or Hawkins “slips” to 16, I would just be pretty pissed if they were all gone there.

The next tier gets kinda murky for me. I do like a ton of players after that but a lot of them feel like wildcards.

I think it would be really unlikely they are all gone by 16. I guess what matters if you're trading up to 13 is if there's one guy you really want over the others and he will go 14 or 15. Outside of the consensus top 10-11 players, the only guy I'm really dead set on getting is Coulibaly. I don't think he makes it past OKC and TOR. He is right up their alley.

I think if we stay at #16, chances of us getting Bufkin or George is really high. I'm kinda down on that tier of wings outside of Coulibaly, however.

Don't you think if that were true, they would not have him representing at the lottery? I think Sexton IS the starting point guard next season on this team.I think barring an upgrade via free agency that pushes Sexton to 6th man where he shines , there is little chance a rookie takes it from him at all.
I think if the Jazz feel they need to move up which I doubt, it won't be at 6. I am guessing they will throw 9,16 and the Wolves next unprotected. trying to get into the 4.
If it fails, which it will, they will maybe try moving 16 ,28, and a future Wolves pick with protections , to leap over a couple end of the lottery teams. esp if they think those 2 are seeking the same player.
I doubt Sexton until he proves healthy again is getting them 1 pick higher either

I don't think anyone views Sexton as a natural point guard. I think he's viewed as a sparkplug scoring guard off the bench. Whether he has much trade value is a fair question.

The draft is likely perceived to flatten out after the top 4 or 5 picks. Players like Black, Ausar, Hendricks, Walker have been pretty interchangeable in mocks. Maybe that will change, but the early buzz has been that teams like Orlando, Detroit and Indiana are open to moving off their picks. Getting into the Top 4 is probably a different story.

Sexton thinks he is a point guard that much I have seen. Him proving able to be so will only come if they do as well.
He probably will ask out if Hardy is not going to do that for him. If he is playing off the bench for this team, in a score first role, I agree he won't be here long, but because he won't embrace it if it's a rookie taking the job. Now if they bring in a legit upgrade in free agency he would gladly compete with the guy for the gig.
Sexton appears to be a highly competetive Jimmy Butler type guy. I don't think I would want to face playoff Sexton. We should try to hold onto him long enough to find out/

I would trade anyone on the team other than Lauri and a few picks for Scoot.

Trouble is I don't think the Blazers would do it.

I like Ochai more than most but if he could net #10 you take it without thinking twice.

I would package #16 and #28 to move up to #13 for Kobe Bufkin, Keyonte George, Cason Wallace, or GG (if he's still there).

ORL at #11 and OKC at #12 don't need guards as a priority. One of these teams is very likely to take Gradey Dick. So I think a couple of the guards we've been discussing can likely be taken at #13. Jazz would need to get ahead of NOLA and ATL probably.
THANK THE JAZZ ORGINATION YOU ARENLT PICKING. GG AT 9? LOL

It all just really depends, but I’ll just say that I’m hoping to turn some or all of 9, 16, 28, Ochai, Olynyk, Nunn, Clarkson, Sexton, and/or cap space into:

-Hendricks
-Wallace
-GG
-Reaves

I wouldn't doubt they trade down and then back up. Like the 9 for 13 and a future first, then the 13 for 11 and 28, or whatever the Philly pick is worth.
Something like that always seems to happen when teams have several picks.

He scores and hustles and has a great contract

I was of the belief that the common opinion of this years draft was that outside of the 1 pick it wasn't loaded with talent?
From what I've read it's really good at the top (like best in 20 years) but not loaded with depth.

"The 2023 draft is seen as a strong class through the lottery and into the teens but tapers off and has a lot of questions due to the lack of emergence from upperclassmen"

Orlando is a funky trade partner for us because they already have another lottery pick at 11. Detroit could be an interesting trade partner if they aren’t enamored with anyone at 5.

Orlando might be more than willing to trade their 2nd lottery pick (11th pick.) Jazz should offer 16, 28 and protected future 1st for it. Then I'll be fine with us picking either George, Dick or Wallace.

Not much point in trading up 2-3 spots. If we are trade to move up we may as well just trade #9 for a star unless one of the Hornets blazers or rockets are dumb enough to trade 9 and 16 for 2-3 or 4. If we can’t get top 3 I don’t see the point in giving up assets for a prospect that might me marginally better.

What do you think guys about Rupert? He is only 18, got a decent season in New Zeeland. Seems to be a good defender and have a kind of Bridges potential. Seems to be positionned around 20 in the draft.
