Its such a weird rule... they can match anything he gets but can only directly offer the 4/50M so this question gonna come up like 10 more times at least.

That’s fine. Somebody should force them to do just that. Tie up their salary cap in years 3 & 4.
We should give the Lakers their pick back to not match on Reaves.
I’d rather not but I go there if need be.

If you give Reaves the bag and LA matches they won't be able to bring in another star unless, said star, signs for cheap.
Then go out and sign Rui.

Nah just throw the bag at him and if they match they will end up in tax hell. I actually think there is a chance they balk at a full price offer. With the way that offer would work in 2 years they’d be in a world of hurt. I don’t think they can do a sign and trade with him because of his restrictions.
Might be able to do a weird agreement where we send JC if he opts in or something.

JC is probably gonna ask no less than 22-25 mil/year. Jordan Poole is getting 32m/year. Reeves probably gonna command higher so maybe throw in something. LA let Caruso walk and he wasn't missed. JC and Lebron are buddies and i dont think he will mind coming off the bench if he gets paid. it would be nice to have Reeves in Utah jersey
The most Reaves can get is 4/98M and the Lakers absolutely have missed Caruso.

So here’s my question… if they sign and trade Reaves can they only offer the 4/50 deal? I think the answer is yes. So not sure if some agreement can be made but that would have been an ideal way to get him.
Wood got more than the MLE when he was an early Bird and was signed and traded. So, I think Reaves can get more than essentially the MLE in such an arrangement, but there is honestly so little clear information on all the particulars of this wrinkle in the CBA.

Oh so I take it the Lakers org has their Cancun trip lined up already? As they should, but still, you love to see it.
I guess it depends on the price. I'm not all that high on him, there's a reason he's gotten so few minutes in the playoffs.
Would that push the Lakers into the Tax does anyone know?
