2023 NBA Draft Megathread

Just dumb… the OG hype is way overboard. It’s comical at this point. Especially on an expiring contract.
But look how far the raptors went in the playoffs doe! OG is amazing. Look at all his all star game appearances

I am completely ok drafting gradey
i don't want grady, but honestly, it might be some sort of reverse racism thing where i don't want him because he's white. but if they take him, i think a lot of people are going to be surprised at how good he is at basketball - and what i mean by that is he is so much more than just a shooter and i think eventually we will all be relatively happy with him. 9 just seems a tad early.

To be fair, i really want cam and i was a tanker but we could end up drafting dick or wallace because we didnt lose enough to draft cam and they might end up better than cam in the end and then those wins actually make us better in the long run.

Draft is still a crapshoot a lot of the time.
Having a hardcore fan such as yourself believing in the tank really shows how short-sighted the anti-tankers are.

It’s really disappointing we didn’t take the Portland route right at the end.

Say what you will about Dick's weaknesses. But, his shot is beautiful. I could watch him shoot all day. I would love it if the Jazz could get him and develop him. I could see him as a Kyle Korver-type player.

I’ve lead the train for drafting Grady. He looks the part of an elite shooter, and IMO he’s more than just a spot up shooter. Imo He’s not Duncan Robinson.

So you want to watch Dick shoot all day huh?

Sorry it’s the last one I promise…

I think this encapsulates everything very well.

so Biancardi has ausar above amen on his board - has them at 4 and 5 respectively. among some of the more out there picks, he has keyonte at #7, nick smith at 14, JHS at 11, jarace falling to 12 and doesn't have Cason in the lottery.

cam to utah at 9.

The Jazz chose to respect the game (until it was evident that they couldn’t do that and still lose games and tanked as or more shamelessly than anyone else).

Lol no such thing as reverse racism, racism is racism. Besides not liking him because he is white is bigotry not racism.

okay. i'm a bigot and possibly a racist too. whatever. point is, i wonder how much of my not wanting him is due to him being white - i would like to think i can look past that when evaluating a prospect, but my subconscious can be a little **** at times.

Of course these players could bust but the more I look at Whitmore, Jarace, and even Ausur they have the tools potential to be future stars. Jazz are sitting so close to their draft range it would be difficult to watch them go off the board just ahead of our pick, esp when they have accumulated so much draft capital to play with.

Ehh. Always better to be higher. Always more options there, including trading back and picking up things rather than spending them to trade up (if you’re lucky).

Holy ****. cam to utah at 9 would be the greatest.

On his last podcast, Kevin O’Connor said he is going to have Ausar above Amen on his next big board

Biancardi is mostly a HS prospect evaluator, so take his thoughts with a grain of salt, but it's fun to think about - if the draft were to shake out like that, imagine getting Whitmore at 9, again - he only did his top 14, but Cason wasn't in it - so you get CW at 9 and Cason at 16. freaking dream draft right there. though i would try like hell to trade up to take Leonard Miller too.

I agree. Im just playing devils advocate for what the anti tanker would say..... And may even be correct on.

Hypothetical situation: jazz tank better and lose more and draft Cam (who i obviously love) and he is never any good.
meanwhile the team who drafts at #9 takes Dick or wallace or black or whoever and that dude becomes an all star. Then the losing and properly tanking ends up hurting us. In that scenario we would have been better off winning more, getting stuck at 9 and taking the all star rather than the bust.

But we are on the same side of the discussion. Just sayin.

His offense role is....no role lol. It's a valid concern tbh. Just depends on how much you believe it's because he's being limited because his offensive role is small versus how much you think his offensive role is small because his game is limited. Definitely some of both.
In other words... is he Dante Exum or is he... I don't know... who is a good example of not having much of any role at high level of basketball even though young and then developing? After watching Dante in various Austalian national team games when he was still our big hope and him having close to zero role, I've come to really doubt that the offensive role is not to a HUGE degree a function of his actual ability and skill. IMO if they thought he can do more, he would be given the chance and responsibility to do more.

Now a second question might be - if he doesn't have the skill at the required level now, what's the chance he develops it?

Yeah only if we on the message board would have listened........
I think Danny tried but was late to the party. Not keeping score but there were a lot of anti-tankers... so not sure where you were on this. This is the time of year where folks might realize the "value" in losing a few extra games. The cost to trade up to 5 or 6 is a lot. So even if we had settled for less in trades earlier it yields an extra first or potentially much more if you can jump into the top 4.

During the season many **** on the tankers... well now the bill is due and some guys will be out of our range or we will have to pay a premium to move up.
