2023 Trade Rumors and Gossip Involving the Jazz

It is kink of amazing to me that the top lead assistant coach in the NBA makes Doke-type money. With all of the money floating around in the NBA, coaches are getting stiffed.

Maybe, but it’s also about duration of time. Dok doesn’t make Dok money for very long. Young makes this money for quite a while.

This is what makes all these lockouts and strikes so baffling — they only benefit those with long-term skin in the game (ownership, agents, players association, etc.) at the cost of those with narrow time windows (players). And guess who the “feduciaries” are advising the players…

This doesn’t make much sense to me. Does he have any connection to Hardy? It seems like that would be a requirement to be a “lead assistant.” I know that wasn’t the case when Hardy started, but that’s a different deal. Seems like he’d be choosing his personnel. My understanding of Young’s connection is that somewhere he and Ainge were in the same ward.

Ainge: Hey, Will. I know you’d like to make your own hire, but there’s this guy I went to church with.

Hardy: Okay, what’s your track record on these church hires?

Fizdale: Yeah, didn’t the last one lead to Ime getting fired?

Ainge: That’s really an outlier.

Hardy: An outlier? How many of them have you hired?
What's the story with ime?

He got fired from the Celtics for a relationship he had. Without getting too specific, I believe the blanks can be filled in with the surrounding context of the post.

What happened to that young reporter with Yahoo who has been good at leaking inside info? Trying to remember his name.

No one turns a NBA game in to watch the assistant coaches

Nobody tunes into watch Doke, either. However top-notch assistants help win games. In a league where they are trying to eek out every advantage, why not load up on talent. Hell, you could buy the three best assistants in the league for what we are paying Rudy Gay, apparently.

It also gets into the point of why not overpay just a bit for a top head coach just like Detroit just did. That is going to make a huge difference for them. Did Chicago really need to go with Jim Boylen when they did? They should have wildly overpaid to get someone better.

I would rather trade that pick for a couple or three seconds. Shepard reminds me of Juzang.
Trade a first rounder for 2-3 seconds when we’ve left at least 4 seconds on the table unnecessarily and included 2 in another deal that we shouldn’t have had to?

Someday you gonna be in the looney bin muttering… second round picks matter… welcome to Best Buy… use your damn challenge it doesn’t rollover to the next game… churros… Royce is our stopper?

It’s okay buddy I’ll be in the next room muttering … you can’t tell me they didn’t eff the math up… Shaq Harrison is the next Alec Caruso… down payment theory is real… seriously Udoka… play Jared Butler… we didn’t tank hard enough…

Every year Quin maxes out his FSA and, thinking it's an HSA, tells his wife not to use it because it's part of his retirement plan.

So, if I’m understanding correctly, we (supposedly) tried to recruit Kevin Young from Phoenix to be one of our assistants, but instead ended up losing one of our guys to be one of their assistants?

Yeah, that about sums it up.
