LHM group buying 1280 the zone (ending lease with 1320)

I heard this show once. It was awesome! Here's a transcription of one riveting segment, just in case some of you were unfortunate enough to miss it:

Host: Karl, what do you think of mashed potatoes?
Karl: Through my eyes? They are good to eat. I like them a lot. Through my eyes.
Host: Do you think Jerry Sloan would like them?
Karl: Oh, Coach? Let me tell you something through my eyes. Coach Sloan, he was one of the coaches I had in my pro career. Him, Coach Layden, Coach Jackson. Through my eyes.
Host: Where are you doing today's broadcast from, Karl?
Karl: Through my eyes? This is a very secret location. But I can see my wife from where I'm sitting right now. I will tell you that.
Host: Through your eyes?
Karl: What are you talking about?
Host: I'm asking if you can see your wife through your eyes.
Karl: I guess you could say that. Yes, you could say that. Through my eyes. And let me say this, it sure is fun getting to know you.
Host: Yes, this is fun.
Karl: So what would you like to talk about next? Through my eyes?

Nailed it. I'm pretty sure this is a word for word transcript.

Pretty good stuff. Could use a few more 3rd person reference. "Kaurl Malow see it this way. He really do."

I hope 1320 stays sports talk. It's nice having options other than the jazz owned station force feeding us the company lines.

Thanks everyone. Found this release:

Looks like 97.5FM will include a local show with Tony Parks and Jake Scott (maybe during Rome). It's too bad because local college football coverage will be crappier. 1280 was pretty good with it. Unfortunate for Ben Bagley. I am quite surprised he didn't make the cut. Not surprised about Jan and Gunther, although I really enjoyed Gunther (I'm looking at you blues ;) ).

*Edit - also sounds like Hans Olsen is going to 700. I wonder if they take Gunther or Ben Bagley as well.

Sheesh. What a lousy lineup. PK is unlistenable. Monson and his creepy love advice makes my skin crawl. He's the worst sports talk host I've ever heard (and I actually like him as a columnist).

I think Jan was an obvious cut and to me Bagley was too. I'm not surprised that LHM doesn't have the guts to put Gunther on but I'm sure he'll get another job somewhere (most likely out of state). I find him very entertaining but I'm sure some people find him offensive (what do you expect from an offensive lineman?). I thought Hans and OC were good together too. I wish they had paired virtually anybody else with DJ and definitely cut Monson.

Yeah. I'm surprised Ben Bagley is gone though. He seemed to be pretty tight with everyone at 1320 and LHM. I would've expected him to stay over Tony Parks. I'd guess Ben has something else lined up elsewhere (out of market?) and didn't want a demotion. As for Jake Scott getting two shows? Sheesh.

Looks like Hans is joining Bill Riley on 700. Unfortunate about Gunther. I hope he lands somewhere.

I"m a little ashamed of it but I admit I like Gunther. He succeeds at wacky radio guy, where others fail (nearly everyone but especially PK and Hans). Cannot stand Hans. He bugs me even more than Jan. YES, MORE THAN JAN! The guy sucks. Ah, nepotism.

They should have done Gunther and DJ. Gunther was really good when paired with a professional, slightly terrible with Jan.

I would have set the alarm early to listen to that. It's probably a good thing it didn't happen because I'm guessing my wife would have poisoned me so that she wouldn't have to hear it anymore.

Gunther was the only one worth listening to on 1280. Monson and Jake Scott were impossibly bad. Checketts is obnoxious because he thinks he is really knowledgeable on music and pop culture.

The new 1280 the Zone needs to get into negotiations with Riley Jensen and Steve Tate for that local mid-day show before college football season gets here. That would be radio bliss during college football season and that pairing would make you all realize how amateur Kyle and Jan were.

I think the downfall of 1280 the Zone was hiring Jan Jorgensen and OC. While I liked OC, he talked about MMA way, way, way too much. And Jan was just terrible. If Kyle's career in radio is over, he came blame Jan directly.

Gunther has only himself to blame. He has the football knowledge to have a job on the radio but he blew it by trying to be a standup comedian, straying off topic way too much, insulting listeners, and being a sexist and misogynistic pig.

If anyone sees him on the street or the unemployment line tell him that I'll give him a job selling "Real Fans Stand" T-shirts and I'll pay him a commission.
