Game 46 - Hornets at Jazz 1/30/13 7:00 PM MST, Root Sports

Al's been very disappointing the last several games. He's been camping, not really moving without the ball. As an AJ fan this looks like regression.
He daydreams through the first 3 quarters, and then sometimes shows up at the end of close games, fooling simple-minded folk. Statistically, he's more-or-less the same player this season as he was his last season in Minnesota.

Alec Burks had 8 points in the first 4:44 of the fourth quarter. Paul Millsap said he "set the tone" and his energy was "contagious."

Anyone at the game see Hayward in a suit with the team ?

I do not understand why he does not go to the games.

I am also getting very concerned that his shoulder injury is a much bigger deal.

Why the reporters that cover the Jazz dont dig into details is beyond me.

I'm guessing they would have shown Hayward on the TV broadcast if he were there. Hopefully day-to-day is still accurate in regards to the injury.

The always insightful Oram (aka db to some) and the ever present Gennesy (aka DJJazzyJody) reported that Gordon missed practice again and will miss the Portland Game. Because Ty adopted Sloan's policy of 'one practice before you play' and the Jazz don't practice on Sunday for Monday's game the next possible practice for Hayward would be Tuesday and play in Wednesday's game.

I have a bad feeling he is out for the year

The correct thing to report would be that no one was effective playing with Al, and the team was +15 in the 13:32 he was on the bench.

When has al been effective with others? This might be the #1 reason why he has been traded so often and for his few playoff appearances. He isn't effective with others. He doesn't make his team any better. He is a stat stuffer, nothing more.

I think we'd be amazed how much more entertaining our team would be if we unloaded him. More surprisingly though, I think many would be amazed at how little we would miss him. Especially since favors is already better than al. Kanter isn't far behind.

Wow, that first sentence is a doozy. You ought to be a speech writer, seriously. If Hollinger came to JF and created a ******** Efficiency Rating that line would be in the 40s. Bravo.

Dude doesn't compete consistently. He and CJ are the two Jazz players that have bugged me the most. No one else even comes close.

You have developed a nice wiggle to your game. Please tell us more about how CJ and Al are similar players.

I don't think CJ ever hit a clutch shot down the stretch.

Al does it nearly every night.

He does have a knack for getting looking disinterested in defense. He either overplays the pick n roll and gets burnt, or severely underplays it and lets wide open shots happen. All of this while looking like he uses a walker to get around. I think it all centers around his lack of brain processing power. The guy isn't that slow footed, just doesn't process information well on the fly.
