Favors Would/Should be Most Improved/DPY

If Favors had played 35 Min a night, would he be DPY and MIP

To be DPOY you either have to anchor one of the best defenses, or put up crazy stats.

Jazz wouldn't be a top defense, so Favors wouldn't get consideration because of that.

His blocks would probably be somewhere in the range of 3 per game, so he may get some consideration for that.


I'm hoping Favors comes into next year with a jump shot and 35 mpg so he can be in the running for both awards.
 
I don't know guys. You have seen Favors when he gets minutes. I don't know about DFY, but i do think he would be a really strong favorite for MIP. He fills up the stat sheet when he gets minutes.
 
The only place Favors is even considered in the DPOY discussion is on fan boards like this. He can't guard the post and makes way too many boneheaded mistakes to warrant any serious discussion by the pros.
 
In his Jazz career, when Derrick Favors surpasses the 30-minute mark he averages 14.1 pts, 10.7 reb and 1.8 blk while shooting 52.4% from the field.
The funny/sad/tragic part is that's happened only 16 times. He could win MIP (mainly from increased opportunity) and probably some consideration for DPOY but I doubt he'd have the publicity, hype or gaudy block numbers to actually win it.
