CJ the muscle man?

Agree. He's improved every year he's been here. Last season may have been a small step back in the regular season, but that's because of injury. And no UB, I wouldn't want CJ to put up 30/per. I'd like to have the main scoring coming from Jefferson and Millsap. They'll be much more efficient inside. As gregbroncs said, the CJ we saw in the playoffs (14 pts/per) would be plenty, especially if Miles also works with Raja and improves his defense.

I'm not sure how much Raja can teach him, defense is mostly instincts and reflexes. At 230 lbs though CJ has at least protected himself from getting posted up by most SG and SF's.

Great defense is instincts and reflexes. Solid defense is more about effort - just staying in front of your man, fighting for position with your body instead of reaching with your hands. I don't think CJ is too slow to be a good defender; he just has to concentrate as much on it as he does jacking up shots.

Any chance we can get a ban on ".. but if he went to college" statements? If CJ would have went to college, there's no guarantee he would have done better in the NBA. Look at Christian Laettner, JR Reid, Calbert Chaney, Sean May... all wonderful in College. Only one of them was a great role player in the NBA. Adding "but if he went to college" to how good a player is, seems to me to be not only no different, but more detrimental than paying max money for potential.

I wasn't saying he should have gone to college I was just saying he's young and has been in the league for a lot of years compared to someone that went to college.

Agreed their.
Defense is all about bugging the heck out of your man, and making his shots as hard to get as possible.
It's all about effort, heart, and pride in your work ethic. (All you have to do is watch Jerry Sloan play to get that)

C.J. has shown tons of effort since he's been here, not only in the weight room this year, but obviously came into his own in the playoffs last year.

I expect to see the C.J. from the playoffs last year, plus a little more experience, strength, and quickness this year.

CJ the muscle man sounds just soo wrong after you search for some CJ Miles pics in google images and you end up with only a couple of them which have actually a basketball in it.

He does look a little bit bigger, granted he also eats at PF Chang's too much, lol .But in all seriousness, he has worked hard and does appear more solid now. His tweets are still hilarious.
