Are the Jazz Being Timid?

It seems to me that the Jazz name is only showing up around OJ Mayo and that looks like a long shot and big $$$$$. It seems like every other free agent the Jazz are not mentioned. I realize CP3 and Dwight aren't coming to SLC but it seems like the front office is being a tad timid.

I can't remember the last time the Jazz FO showed their hand before making a big move. If they make any major free agent additions this offseason, I fully expect the news to come out of left field and surprise everyone.

I think they are being smart.
Agree. Lindsey stated in an article (I believe it was in the Deseret News) that the Jazz might be value shoppers in August. Let other teams spend their cap space like drunken sailors. That's fantastic! There will be fewer trade options for luxury tax payers at the deadline. Less supply means Utah can set up a bidding war for their cap space. Want to dump salary? It will cost you a starter or lottery pick. Too high a price? OK, next bidder?

I've gotta say............yeah................maybe make a list of all the threads and their premise' you think of during a given day, and then pick just ONE that you deem to be the highest quality. Lets try a quality over quantity type'a'thing going forward?

That actually goes for everyone.

It seems to me the year that Boozer and Okur signed they agressively went out and got them. I know this isn't Lindsey's first rodeo so I will be quiet.

The last place I want the Jazz to be aggressive is in telling the media or floating rumors about their plans.

I'll let their actions speak.

They damn well better be timid. For all those years we sat on our *** all summer, now is definitely not the time deviate from that plan.

Why? I just scanned the list of threads on page 1 and homey has 4 or so, each dealing with a different topic or different FA's. Is there a rule that we can only start a certain number? If so, I'm sure a few of us have violated it on multiple occasions. If his - or anyone else's - threads aren't relevant, they'll quickly sink to the bottom and be forgotten once they move over to Page #2.

The Jazz are a team with cap space that needs players. Every agent is going to say the Jazz are "pursuing" their client. Drives the price up.

The Jazz are not just adding a piece or two, they have a bunch of money, a bunch of moveable assetts and a bunch of roster spots.

Jazz are in the midst of their rebuilding, give them some time......

plenty of time to judge the results later.

We have our starters, unless the Jazz feel they need an upgrade over Burks at SG. So who should we aggressively pursue? Do you want the Jazz to overpay for Mayo, just to get him to agree to a contract on Day 1 of the FA period (if he even would)? Even with Carlos, the Jazz had him fly to SLC for a workout. Carlos had also scheduled a meeting with Denver, which he cancelled after his SLC visit. Serious question, what should the Jazz look for? A starting PG? A backup one? A starting off-guard? Or a starting SF? We know the Jazz have made a few phone calls that have been leaked. I'll bet they've made twice that many calls to agents that have kept their mouths shut. KOC hated when info was disclosed. And I bet Lindsey is the same type of GM.

Great post. Repped!!

One thing to remember is this place has been backed into the TANK corner by bearing the last two years of Jefferson n Mo/Harris. It's hard to detach from those emotions and consider anything besides a ****ty season as positive.

You'll get plenty angry responses suggesting anything outside that box.

yes, but

I can't remember the last time the Jazz FO showed their hand before making a big move.

Yes but there are other parties involved who are not as tight-lipped (e.g., the leakers of the OJ Mayo information)
