What's new

I don't see how Kanter can succeed as a Jazz

Kanter is not 6'11", he is 6'9" and struggles against long 4's and really struggles against centers.

In the first place my english isn't very well but i have to say:

Are you kiddin' me? The draft combine doesn't lie.

https://www.draftexpress.com/profile/Enes-Kanter-5168/

6'9.75 without shoes
6'11.25 in shoes

The height in shoes matters and is the officiall height in the nba which is always announced. But in some point you are right. Kanter doesn't possess elite length. His Standing Reach is 9'1.5 which seems average for a nba center, but thats not the biggest problem. In addition to that he lacks elite - athletism too. The combination of both will make sure that Enes will struggle sometimes because in the nba if you want to be a special center you have to be long (Marc Gasol) or athletic (Drummond).

Gasol seems to be equal with Kanter in athletism but he is much taller. Drummond has the same standing reach like Kanter but is much more athletic.

Enes needs to improve his fundamentals and also needs more playing time to gain experience especially at the defensive end. I have no idea why Corbin is humiliating Enes, because its Corbins fault too. In his Rookie-Season he played only 13 minutes and in his sophomore-Season only 15. Thats the result of a lack of playing time and yes karma is a bitch Mr. Corbin.

But Enes seems to play different. I can remember that he was posting up against Bynum or Howard and switching to jumper sometimes. Now he is taking the jumper most of the time? Why?Because of Ty?

This guy should still play 30 Minutes because the jazz are tanking and this season doesn't care anyone. If u see no progress especially on defense at the end of the season u can still trade him. If he plays 30 Minutes per night he is still a 15 / 7 guy and in combination with his rookie-salary he wouldn't be untradeable. But no one would give up a potential lottery pick for him even if he would bring 20 /10 ....

Thought Kanter would be a kind of Al Jefferson with more hustle (better offensive rebounder and boxing out at the D) but the hustle is gone because of the lack of motivation, sadly...

Would love to see the Burke-Favors-Kanter Triangle at the offensive end because they never played 20 or more minutes together...

One of them was that one, in the other one Jefferson ended up having to guard Asik and Jefferson had to foul Asik. That play made Jefferson chew Kanter out a bit and he kinda just left the game mentally after that.

Looks like Jazz were getting back on defense. Whoever was supposed to guard Brooks completely f'ed up. Jefferson points and tells Kanter to cover Brooks. After the play, Jefferson is talking to Kanter, but doesn't look upset.

No he's telling kanter to get the board. Watch it again. Beverly slips in front of Kanter for the board. Jefferson immediately is like wtf

Houston was smart to go at Kanter and pull him out. He is simply not effective out there. Evans and Kanter should have had opposite assignments on that play.

Kanter will get healthy and be back to old form. He is a beast and he will eat the flesh of his haters....

but then you got to think ... who would we trade him for? and if we wanted a vetrin center then why not have just kept Big Al? .... I think he can be a star giv'n the right coach and system ... he looks alot like Dirk in dallas years ago ... only differnce is Dirk had a coach that belived in him and gave him a chance .... seriously he has little to no chance with Corbin and co ... neither does Alec Burkes
Hey, well won't you look at that! A fellow comrade seeing eye to eye with TFP.

I love how anytime a guy is struggling their fanbois come on here to bitch about how the team and franchise is disrespecting them and is the reason they are struggling. He's stuck here for at least 3 more years so learn to deal with it.
.
Kanter is struggling and part of the problem is his effort has been pathetic since coming back from the ankle. His IQ on defense is not up to par yet. And he thinks he must shoot every time he touches the ball. All of these things are correctable and the team needs to work with him on them. Right now Marvin is lighting it up while Kanter struggles. While I still wish they would let Kanter play through it and let the young guys learn to play together more. It's still not worth destroying the confidence of the other 3-4 young guys when one of them is not putting forth the effort.

I think kanter is only here for this year and next...... then he is a free agent (restricted)

This early offense play resulted from a bad defensive awareness of Jefferson. He stayed in the middle and searched for Asik. He was the logical assignment for Brooks since Garrett was ion the weakside covering Garcia with no chance for defensive recovery. Burks was in the strong corner guarding Beverly. So it's Jefferson who sunk deep into the zone for no reason while not expecting a body and not being aware that brooks is his assignment with how the transition happened. That forced Kanter to step out.
F'ing Jefferson. No D as always and complaining afterwards.

Only mistake I see is not going after the rebound. With only Evans as a big down low he shouldn't really try to leak out.

True, he wasn't aware it was a long board. That was a bad move to not turn around after the shot, box out and try to get the reb.

Why do people continue to compare him to Dirk? He has good footwork and nice shooting touch but nowhere near the body control and basketball IQ.

I mentioned in another thread that a true stretch 4 works better with Favors than another slower big. I think the Bucks could really use Kanter's inside scoring for sure. They don't need another rookie to wait for. If we get Randle, for example, he can play behind Marvin until he shows he's better. They could protect it Top 2, if they want.

It's a strange world we're living in.. The most talented Jazz now getting 12 mpg in a rebuilding year because the clueless coach wanted you to think he is the scapegoat..
Dude was averaging 18/9 with JLIII as the PG ffs,
Burke is back instantly making the team much better and guess what? People now think, "oh, so the lineup change has worked" Corbin not only puts the blame on Kanter but looks like a genius starting Marvin.

You wonder how incompetent yet tricky/sly guys get coaching jobs in the NBA? Remember this example

Ahh, I see. I was wondering what Jefferson might have been saying to him. I didn't notice before that Kanter was watching the shot and getting ready to go back on offense. Should have gone after it, but it's not true that he's not effective out there. We've all seen how good he can be. He might need to grow up a little I think.

Which means if he hates Utah he can go and get a one year offer that Utah can match. So if the Jazz want him here he is here for a minimum of 3 more years.

I think what he was saying is that Kanter is not good out on the floor away from the basket defensively.

Lest we forget:

Watching kanter fire three after three (with remarkable accuracy) on passes from Alex Jensen. He's not screwing around; legitimately working
