What's new

Rebuild over?

Can't imagine not winning multiple Championships.

But yeah, our rebuild must be awesome, so it must be done. Cool whatever.

Getting there ... I think we need to find a new home for Kanter and get a 4 who fits better. Gobert is the center of the future. Favors, a 4-5, who needs to works on his perimeter game. Randle would be a perfect fit. Even with the injury I'd take a chance on trading Kanter for him, but as most of the posters here think, LA wouldn't do it. That was before the injury, however. I like Booker; I think we should let him play some 3 -- he is showing he can hit from the outside and is quick enough to defend the 3 position.

Yes, trade Kanter

I like your idea of trading Kanter for Randle, especially since the latter is out for the season with a broken leg. They're desperate for a true center and might take Kanter and a 2015 #1. I'm intrigued with using Gobert the way Dallas uses Chandler, who also has a limited offensive game. Locke is always saying that the Jazz can't score when Gobert is on the floor, that it's like playing four on five. So, start him with four scorers -- Hayward, Hood, Favors and Burke. It works for Dallas. If we still have Kanter, bring him in for Gobert and slide Favors to the four. Make Alec our sixth man, in for Hood, and let him be our Jamaal Crawford, with complete freedom to initiate the offense and be Alec. Let the second unit, with some combination of Exum, Burke, Kanter, Novak, Booker, et al simply outscore the other team since defense won't be their strong suit.

I think the fear is The Core is a collection of, at most, 3rd-5th best players on a good team. I'm not quite convinced of that yet; there is a long way to go; but the results don't give you much to argue for at this point.

I think the rebuild is mostly done as far as drafting/getting our core players.

Now the second half of the rebuild begins......... implementing snyders offense and defense, while developing the talent that we have acquired.

Also, I don't think anyone thought the rebuild was completely finished because we all knew that corbin set the rebuild back a few years.

Look at the predictions thread. I think maybe 1 person has us making the playoffs so obviously most of us are on the same page that we still have some building to do

I'm convinced of that. These "young" players have had 3 years now to prove if they're legit #1-#2 players. Name me all stars that didn't display that aptitude in their first 4 seasons...

I do not think the Jazz are tanking again but this rebuild has barely even started.

Enjoy the ride. It's going to be a wild one.

Learning curve

A steep 3-4 year learning curve is pretty much the norm:
Steve Nash
Chauncy Billips
Detlef Shremph
Gary Payton
Terrell Brandon
Ben Wallace
Gilbert Arenas
Joe Johnson
Josh Smith
Andre Iguodala
Michael Redd
Jermaine O’Neil
Lance Stephenson
Chandler Parsons
Kobe did not average over 20 till his fourth season, continued to improve through 7 seasons

Monta ellis seems to have made a huge improvement after being in the league for quite a while.

Sometimes coaching, environment, system, and maturity do actually matter.

Not every player reaches thier full potential by age 23

1. We're going to get another lottery pick this year... so, more assets.

2. I really think there's a trade or two in the future.

These are necessary parts of our rebuild.

Shut the hell up, dude. Corbin wasn't a good head coach, but he's a good player development guy (his current job is exactly in this capacity). All of the young players got better under his tenure.

I know simple logic and homerism requires that you find a scapegoat, but maybe you can try to be a little more thoughtful? tia

Yes fish is a simple logic man and a simple homer.

Yup. Summarized him well.

Were you busy smelling your smellybuns when Corbin did whatever he did? He is a great kind and nice dude. Love to have him in your franchise. But not a strong character for the HC job. His emphasis on the veteran players' importance, no system offense-defense, unlearning atmosphere and trying to keep his records as high as possible hence benching Burks are a close history of this team.

Need to retweek the rebuild. Get rid of Kanter and find a talented, physical SF.

Naos hates it when people criticize Sacramento kings coaches.

I never knew that about him.
