Following potential 2015 draftees

Hezonja is having a really nice game right now against Fenerbahce in the Euroleague and he's actually playing great defense with great active hands against the ballhandler and he's smothering his man with his size... He seems to have pretty long arms and already had 2 steals and forced a couple more TOs... Seems like ability is not the issue, but rather attitude...

...and just as i said that he turned the ball over in two consecutive possessions in the clutch.

Great game, overtime on the way. Hezonja with 12(4/6 from the 3), 2 rbs, 2 ast, 3 to in 24 mins of play so far.

I probably would have stated any athletic wing with a weak offensive game instead of a black guy, but whatever.

The difference is Cy is asking if he could be like that, you stated that since Porz was being compared to Dirk, he would be a steal at #4. If you can't see the difference, then I don't know what to tell you.

I can certainly see the difference, I was just having a bit of fun... I am still allowed that right????

This is Jazzfanz, not the serious draft site: www.NBAdraftRealLegit.com.

Hezonja got 30 mins in tonight's Euroleague game against Fenerbahçe. He was pretty solid except some critical turnovers. He was very good especially defensively. I have recently read critics about his defense in this thread, I don't agree with the most of them. He is not a bad defender by any means and in fact he has a pretty good defensive potential. The problem is with his intentions. He CAN play great defense when/if he wants to.

Besides Hezonja, another draft candidate Kenan Sipahi was also very solid in the limited time he played. He had 5 assist in 14.5 minutes.

Edit: Apparently stitches beat me to it. Nice post bro.

Blocked shots are such an overrated stat when looked at out of context. I feel like that's happening with Porzingis.

attacking every shot can cause shot blockers to be out of position to rebound. sometimes it is better to challenge shot but still keep your feet to box out.

defense is played with your legs and feet not with your arms and hands (most of the time)

I laugh at Dirk comparisons with Porzingis. His upside at the best possible conditions would be a poor man's Dirk minus the passing.

Between the Euroleague play and ACB this year, Porzingis is at 44% on 3PT percentage. Lots of high def game footage on Youtube, but no highlight videos made yet. Here are some plays from a recent game:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H94KzEsX9WI

14:47 (dunk)
20:06 (block)
20:42 (mid range)
21:15 (oop)
24:32 (3 PT)
27:58 (nice assist)

1 correction. Porzingis team doesn't play EuroLeague. They play in the EuroCup, which is 2nd tier international competition. Still pretty good!

Every big foreign guy who can shoot has been called the next Dirk.

If you're trolling, then stop. If you're not trolling, then wow.

From the little I've seen of him he reminds me a little bit of Serge Ibaka with more offensive potential.
I wouldn't worry so much about Porzingis defense. If he is solid he's better than 80% of the NBA guys on that end.
Power Forward is all about providing more offensive value than your counterpart does in some way(Scoring yourself, helping others get easier shots etc..)
Power Forwards like Ibaka, Gibson are super rare who can provide help side defense roaming in from the perimeter and also keep smaller attackers in front of them after switches.

According to reports Alex Poythress tore his ACL today:

Well, that sucks...

Well the thing I dislike about these reports is that they never state which other parts of the knee were damaged. An ACL rupture is totally manageable by today's medical standards unless your knee is predisposed for ACL injuries.

The thing that drags rehab and makes you susceptible for reinjuries are other parts that took damage like your meniscus and stuff.

Hope he had a Peterson style clean rupture and wish him a speedy recovery.

Yep.. I am still in denial. Poy is a GREAT defender and it will impact our season. More importantly, he's a damn good kid and I hate that he got hurt.
