Definitely a plus with Grayson, and this was apparent at Duke too. Not scared to shoot, not shy. I'm sure there are parts of his game that will be slow to translate but shooting a huge volume of threes at a respectable percentage likely not one of them.
I think there's a totally reasonable chance that the Spurs would dump Aldridge for whatever they could get after getting rid of Kawhi as well, and that would make the West much easier.
I know that with this setup and especially with Exum getting injured he has to play, but he is an unmitigated disaster on basically every possession on both offense and defense.
It still somehow feels like he makes the right decision on basically every play, which gets harder and harder to do when you are actually shooting with regularity. Really really impressive recently.
+1. Unless you like Hood a lot more than I do we basically turned him into a relatively comparable overall talent player at 3/4 instead of 2/3 and signed him for 7m for the next two years. I don't really get how that's not pretty great.
I have a hard time not seeing this as trading a 3-8 depending on contract for a solid 6. Just lock yourself into cap flexibility and mitigate downside plus better roster fit. Hard to complain about this unless you think Hood is a lot better than I do.
Why? Rodney does not have close to that kind of value. He's a decent asset if you're capped out and need bird rights but are you really excited about paying him 15/yr?
I like this move a ton, actually. Preserves cap flexibility really really well going forward and gives us a good rotational player which was always the fear with Hood.
I can't imagine what the offer would even be but it's nice to see him getting some love as a win now piece regardless. Been playing really well lately, this coming from someone who really disliked his game earlier in the year.
