Ironically rebounds have been a pretty neat hidden "metric" for guards. A ton of undervalued guards/wings in college/the draft, who went to have great NBA careers have had very high rebound rates.
I have zero worries about a coaching staff's ability to convert a lot of his mid-range pull ups into 3s. This is one of the easiest things teams do nowadays. minimize the midrange... To be honest, teams still need a player or two who can reliably pull up from 2 so I don't even think his pull up...
I don't see Kasparas as a particularly raw prospect. In fact, in certain aspects he's pretty advanced. I think he can be at the very least a good rotational player... just not sure about the top range of outcomes...
McNeeley was the obvious measurements manipulator at the combine! The moment I saw that 36.5 and I had seen him practically never leaving the ground in-game, I knew to go straight to his standing reach. This is grotesque manipulation if I've ever seen one....
BTW, I just watched a bit of Kasparas Jakucionis... I don't know what to do with him... I'm so torn... He has a lot of good statistical indicators. And he obviously is skilled and knows how to play... I just cannot shake that feeling that a lot of what was working for him in college will simply...
Free throw rates(in college) by some of the players being mentioned here:
- Tre Johnson .265
- Tyler Herro .235
- Jamal Murray .285
- Cam Thomas .440
- SGA .464
SGA was not the monster he is now in college, but as you can see even in his college stats you can see a certain level of aggression...
Reminds me of that Jazz team from a few years ago when all our perimeter players thought the best way they can help the team win is to shoot. You can say they all were "team first" in that way :D
Is this guy a serious reporter or some sort of a conjurer? This is a horrible reporting if it is a report and it is even worse speculation if it's conjecture of some sort. "Among teams"... "that could"... "check in" on "Markkanen's availability"... Not sure if the Jazz will entertain it.
In...
I feel like the sample is already way too small for us to start prioritizing even smaller portion of it. I'd take the whole thing without much concern for when the better/lesser play happened. I might watch specific matchups against players who are NBA level prospects to see how the guy deals...
The thing is... It's worth pointing out that he did some pretty special things offensively as a freshman. Getting started at a high profile program like Texas and being THE guy pretty much from the start must have some value on its own... and then him being very productive as a scorer probably...
The more I look at his numbers the less I like him, the more I look at his film the more I like him. He will be a tricky one for me. I usually value what numbers say a lot, especially when they go heavily against what my eyes are telling me... but I feel like I just cannot quit Tre. He just...
Here's a question.... lets assume we somehow manage to swindle a deal with Lauri+21+ whatever other pick not #5 for #2...
So we pick Dylan Harper. Who do we get at 5 then? I guess then we hope Ace falls?
Giving up a lottery pick in next year's draft would be epically stupid, especially when we are starting from such a low point and we are not anywhere close to being competitive. Usually we talk about "new owner syndrome", where new owner comes in and forces a bunch of stupid win now moves that...
