IMO about zero. We don't have good enough players or even prospects to allow any of them influence what we do with this pick. And the only player who is good enough to maybe influence something is seamless fit with pretty much any roster construction.

I still think it's better than average, not just better than last year's draft(which is pretty low bar). I like the 3-8 better than most year's 3-8 too... I have to go through some more players to be able to pass judgement on the rest of the lottery.

I think I would take about 7 players in this draft before I would have taken anyone from last year's draft. I liked Castle best last year... I think I probably take Flagg, Harper, Johnson, VJ, Ace, Kon, Fears ...(and still haven't watched Queen and Jakucionis) before Castle

I have just recently started seriously going through prospects from this draft. I don't know what the likes of Sam Vecenie is talking about when saying past the top 2 this is a normal draft. No it isn't. I like a ton of prospects past the top 2 and I have liked players throughout the whole 1st...

The reality is ... It doesn't matter what measurement we are using as long as we are using the same measurement and not mixing and matching whenever it suits our argument(don't like Ace - oh he turned out to be super short 6'7", you like VJ - oh he's definitely 6'6" or thereabout. Pretty much no...

Do you think our FO has Ace, Tre and VJ ranked 3-5?

Isn't Fears like a combo of Kyrie and Terry "Untradable" Rozier?

I'm not sure it's higher(probably not)... but it looks more straightforwardly achievable high upside.

@KqWIN has kind of ruffled some of my feathers with his Fears take. And the more I watch of him the more I think I agree. He looks like the most obvious upside swing to me. Purely skill-wise he's at an extremely high level. He has the handle, he has the creativity and flair, he has all the...

Yeah... his handle is not horrible... it's probably good enough for secondary initiator, but if we want to project him as a star(Edwards type rather than Suggs type), he needs to work on it. Agreed on the indicators. And his rebound rate is pretty good too. It's one of the best in the draft for...

I'm not sure his actual first step is the problem. I think his handle needs improvement and he does need adding some craft. I think opponents played his drive first, second and third and then were worrying about him pulling up so that's another reason his first step doesn't pop as much as you'd...

Yeah... he's a bit of a brute force/athleticism type at the rim right now. But I do think it's notable that he doesn't avoid using his off-hand... I like this... I think it opens up some additional avenues for improvement,

Anybody else notice that Edgecombe actually tries to finish with his left hand when driving left... hell... he even has some left handed floaters. There isn't a ton of craft from what I'm seeing but he does use both his hands on drives.

For the record I'm not out on Tre. I would be perfectly fine with us picking him at 5. I just don't like the overly rosey projections I seem to be seeing here, especially when they rely on him improving things that are hard(not impossible) to improve.

I mean... it's not impossible he improves. I just want us to know exactly what we are betting on if we pick him and not be delusional about the chance he improves in ways that would make him not just efficient scorer, but also primary offense initiator of a great offense.

The thing with the things he needs to improve is that they are things that players usually have hard time improving. If you are already not getting to the rim in college, you rarely start going to the rim in the NBA, if you are not already drawing fouls you are not likely to start getting to the...

Fair, but like KqWIN pointed out... he needs to improve a lot his ability to create advantages of the type that matter for his playmaking for others. Pretty much the only break down of the defense he can do now is the type that creates him a step back or pull up jumper.

We don't need just a scorer. We need offensive initiator, someone who can not just score for himself but create efficient offense for the whole team. Tre Johnson can barely create below average to average efficiency offense for himself. And gives you pretty much nothing else at average or above...

Some players try to manipulate their athleticism score by tanking their standing reach measurement. Wonder if it's the case here. He measured 36.5 max vert... does he look that athletic on tape? He looks pretty ground bound to me...

Some of our coaching staff has left since(especially the guy who was directly involved with Mitchell)... but the Jazz had a pretty good success in improving Mitchell's finishing around the rim with introducing some craft and new skills like off-foot finishes, floaters, using extension and length...
