I was really disappointed with Flip.
He’s so good offensively, really has an excellent package there, but he’s a complete sieve on defense. Part of frustration there is that he doesn’t play smart on defense. Twice in a row went for shot fakes from Bona who isn’t a perimeter threat? He needs to...
I swear people are going off of VJ’s stat line and not how he actually played.
He played good! But I never thought he looked like a star. Bailey outplayed him in the first half.
I was pleasantly surprised with Bailey’s defense. His biggest issue, more than shot selection, is his handle...
Flip is as bad at defense as he is good on offense.
Ugly 2nd half. Not sure why they didn’t get Bailey involved. If I never see Harkless play again, that will be just fine. He’s cheeks.
I’ve been pleasantly surprised with Cody.
Walt is gonna be awesome. Already love that guy. Him and Collier excel at pushing the ball. Ace > Edgecomb. VJ is nice, but I don’t think he’ll ever be great.
I get what you’re saying, but Steph in his prime was a surprisingly solid defender, and when he wasn’t, he was able to get away with it because he’s one of the greatest offensive perimeter players ever. It’s a poor example to use when defending Keyonte.
Idk. 10 or so pages in less than an hour and people racing to be the biggest downer indicates they think it’s a big deal. If people didn’t care, it would just be “meh. Not great, but whatever.”
Keeping him means Keyonte, Collier, and Clayton aren’t playing as much. None of that is good for what Utah wants. If you “lose” a trade to make room for your future, it’s not that big of a deal.
I can see where people think it’s a dumb trade. What I don’t understand, is why anybody thinks it’s a big deal. At the end of the day, this deal doesn’t matter at all.
He could put up worse numbers than Sexton while having a more positive impact. Going off the stat sheet Sexton and Collins should be some of the NBA’s best players, and yet…they aren’t.
On can reasonably conclude the the Jazz FO aren’t complete idiots. They’ve been trying to move Sexton for a while. Thus, it’s reasonable to conclude that this was the market for a player like Sexton on a team like the Jazz where everybody knows they practically have to get rid of Sexton. So...
I think trading the pick was unfortunate, but this is more of a trade to create playing time for the young guards. They have to know what they have. Losing a good 2nd round pick sucks, but we have enough 1st round picks that it somewhat neuters the effect.
