Theory On Why Jefferson Makes Us Better Against L.A.

The guy pounds and pounds the ball in the post. His offensive game doesn't translate into the NBA right now. His post moves need to be a lot more deliberate otherwise he will have a lot of 24-second violations and turnovers when defenders sag in and slap the ball away. Still, he has a nice...

    Korver's goodbye to Jazz fans

That's a pretty classy move considering the Jazz really didn't want/need him back. I imagine a guy like Korver is really easy to deal with in the locker room and was liked all around. I love players with a sweet shot. It's almost a lost art these days. But Korver is a pretty flawed basketball...

    Are you happy now?

No. Those are all bad deals. Collectively, it is just horrid. Our roster last season was barely second round team (we hit a Denver team that was falling apart) and nothing more. You don't lock up mediocrity for the next 3-5 years.

The Long Term Implications of the Matthews Match

This is tough. I am not sure Wesley is worth that much money over that many years. It is one thing to be overpaid for a season or two, but you are going to have him on the books for FIVE freakin' seasons. Is Wesley a cornerstone? Is he the answer at SG for the next half decade? How much "upside"...

Korver signs with Bulls! (3 yrs/15 mil)

I admire the Jazz front office for making the bold decision of NOT bringing back Korver. He was a fan favorite and great for the community, but it was not in the Jazz's interest to lock of that much money and game minutes for such a one dimensional player. Granted, he really helped with spacing...

    Matthews meeting with Blazers!

He is a nice role player, but not a cornerstone. He wants to get his full market value. Nothing wrong with that. But if the Blazers give him a ridiculous offer the Jazz need to call their bluff and let them him go.

Boozer Agrees to Terms With Bulls (5 yrs/80 mil)

Last season was Boozer's audition for free agency. His antics and interviews with the media in potential destinations during the season were very telling (e.g., New York). Everyone should have known he was leaving. He took the big cash in Utah and wanted out almost from the beginning. He had...

Best Utah Jazz sites on the internet

I am trying to put together a list of the best websites, blogs, chatboards, etc. to follow the Utah Jazz. I am sorry if this is a redundant thread, but please post a link and a short description or recommendation of essential Utah Jazz-related sites. Many thanks!

    Utah Jazz Future

Huh? Nomination for worst post in the new era of JazzFanz. But I am really scratching my head on this one. Utah is "where big white guys comes to die." Like who? Eaton and Tag? They went to Utah to play at the beginning of their careers not just to die at the end. Maybe Tom Chambers fits...

John Stockton - Game 6 97' WCF Highlights

Clutch Stock took over in the biggest game in his career to that date. He willed his team to victory and proved that, if needed, he could take over offensively. I think it is good to keep perspective on how long it took for the Jazz to reach the NBA Finals. I am sure Stock was frustrated during...

    Gordon Hayward's number?

False. Larry was a nasty dude and a legit baller. He was a true 6'9 forward with a high release. He had a nice drop step and was a great passer. Larry in his prime would give Josh Smith and Lebron fits. Those guys make the highlights for their defensive plays from the weakside or in an...

Jazz to officially unveil new colors and logo today

And it looks like they are not displaying the word "Utah" in the main logo. Sorry Utahns, but I think they are hoping their merchandise has more appeal outside of Utah. Afterall, wearing something with "Utah" on it is just not cool, unless its from a ski resport or extreme sporting event.

Jazz to officially unveil new colors and logo today

They are calling it "New Colors and Logo Variations." See the Jazz's NBA home page. I think they are trying to avoid paying the NBA fine for chaning a logo within a certain time period. That is why they are getting "new colors" and "logo variations" NOT a "new logo." I think they will use the...

Karl Malone - Game 5 of 98 Finals

A missed free throw in the first quarter and a missed free throw in crunch time all count the same. In every game you can go back an analyze every missed layup, missed free throw, bad turnover, etc. They ALL have an effect on the final outcome. That video sure made me miss the Mailmain. We...

Karl Malone - Game 5 of 98 Finals

False. It's too bad Malone didn't have near the supporting cast of Hakeem and Jordan. And the love of the officials.

    Jazz Pre-Draft Camps and Workouts

Whiteside is intriguing, from a physical standpoint (that wingspan is freakish), but he has "bust" and "long term project" written all over him. He's the type of guy that at the end of his rookie contract you will have a lengthy discussion about if he is really worth the big bucks (appx $8m a...

Babbitt recorded highest max vertical among all frontcourt prospects

We don't need another small forward on the roster. We have AK and CJ--one is oft injured and the other is still a project. So if they Jazz draft Babbitt (I initially typed "Bobbit") it would need to be part of moving AK/CJ/other fillers to get a true big. It that's the case, then fine, draft...

    Explain the Monroe Love

Those workouts are designed to exhast you. They keep feeding and feeding you the ball to go up and attack the rim. The coaches are looking to see how a guy fights through that exhaustion to run the drill. You can't guage too much from how exhausted he looked in that clip.

It Doesn't Matter if You're Black or White. Not!

Basketball is full of sterotypes, but there are general differences in how the game is played in African-American communities and white communities. There are a few ethnographic/sociological academic studies to this effect. A lot has to do with availability of courts, amount of unstructured...

    Backup PG?

Price can't run the pick and roll worth a damn. He plays some scrappy defense from time-to-time that keeps him in Sloan's favor. But he is not a good enough playmaker and shooter to keep out there for long stretches. He would make an ok number three--someone who can come in, on rare occasion...
