Ya and, if Pop plays his guys like you want him to, and Tim Duncan ends up with a season ending stress fracture in his foot, the seeding will be different to.

Its not Pop's job to beat the Heat or whoever so that some team has it easier or harder to make the playoffs. Its on those other teams to take care of their own business.
If he breaks his foot, that means he took the same chance every other player takes when they step onto the court.

It absolutely IS Pop's job to beat the Heat. He has a responsibility to uphold the integrity of the game, and that supersedes his responsibility to win championships.

Sorry to interject into another one of those private argument things.

But can anyone remember, didn't the spurs get the big fundamental because the spurs decided to sit Robinson and Elliot for the rest of the season even though both could have come back to play?

Ok. You win. Lets just get rid of the coaches and set mandatory line ups for the whole league.

Fining the Spurs 250k, Stern proves that he is a dictator. The Spurs did this a bunch last year, yet they didn't get fined. How is it that now the actions are unacceptable? Oh I know, because the game was nationally televised and against the NBA darling Miami Heat. Only the commissioner of the NBA believes that he has a better grasp than a decorated NBA coach about which basketball games are important.

What bothers me is that I'm convinced Stern laid down the hammer because it was a high profile game, just like he lays down the hammer if anyone says anything about a referee. We should just rename the league the Stern Basketball Association.... I hope the next guy (Silver I think) is better.

(I will say this, If Stern retroactively fines the Golden State Warriors for tanking @250k per game tanked. I will no longer consider his actions hypocritical)

In all seriousness, I am curious.. have you ever made yourself a student of the Roman Empire? I only ask because I did and I named my company (one that I sold in '05) after that era. I collected Roman Empire era artifacts that were awesome. I became fascinated with that time period.

(That was probably weird, so ..)
Not too much but I get the obsession. I was hooked on Mayan culture sort of as a flash back to some pretty wild spring break trips to Cancun, chasing women (as in mature Canadian women & I was 19-20) at night then taking excursions out to the ruins to hide from them the next day. I swear the sea air does something to Canucks...

I don't think there are a whole lot of Mayan artifacts to be had though. Did you find an easy method to collect them? Those old Roman coins are pretty cool looking.

I think Stern really got pissed because Pop did what Stern is always doing.....adjusted the storylines of a high profile, nationally televised game.

Stern sets the schedule for the Thursday night games. He set the spurs back to back and 6 games in 9 nights on the road or whatever it was, AND Stern picks the officials for every stinking game. Let me say that again, Stern picks the officals for every game.

If you didn't know the NBA (and the Casinos) meticulously track the officals, the calls they make and the outcomes of the games. By assigning the right crew to any game Stern can 'help' achieve the desired outcome. How is that fair to the other teams or the fans?

Love the Jazz, but the NBA smells funny.

So for future reference just say Duncan has a sore back, Manu has a headache, & Parker twisted his ankle.
Life is like watching Fast and the Furious 6. It's not easy, most of the time it's just dumb and pointless, everything is fake, there is a lot of noise, but if you close your eyes and picture yourself in an open field or a quiet forest, you can maybe make it to the end without killing yourself.
