2023 NBA Draft Megathread

Any chance Wallace is just the next Davion Mitchell? Biggest I'm worried about with Wallace is if he measures smaller than expected.
I think there are similarities but if Davion is 6-2 then Wallace might be 6-5 or 6'6"... I think Cason is definitely bigger than Davion by a few inches. I think the biggest thing is the shot form for Cason looks better than Davion's and Mitchell may have benefitted from some fluky shooting luck... his FT percentage was like 10% lower than Cason's. Wasn't Davion in empty gyms the year his shooting popped. I think bigger, better shooting Davion isn't the end of the world... but Cason could be more than that.

He's obviously bigger than Davion, but he might be more of a 3D guy like a Deanthony Melton than your primary guard, imo. Below are the stats from UK's Pro Day in November. Cason is listed at 6'3" with a 6'6" wingspan, an 8'4" standing reach and a 42" max vertical.

6'6" ws is t-rex category for switch defense transferring even if his on ball D is fine - and the max vert is almost identical as Young Bull - yeah there is no similarity to Sexton there smh and he has a 6'6.5 wingspan and is shorter.
**** cw until the 20's

If you look at Keyonte George's 3pt%, his FT% and his steal rate and you spin around until you're a bit dizzy, you can kinda make an argument that Keyonte is in the same ballpark as Bradley Beal at Florida. Beal was thought to be a guy who could play point guard, but he never really did. Maybe because Washington already had John Wall.

I think I'd go Hendo... because I think I could finesse a trade high enough to get Wallace. I think Taylor is going top 9. More teams need unicorn forwards than pgs in our draft range.

Is there a reason we are worried about Black’s scoring and shooting when Wallace has an identical 2PT% and both have bad 3PT% (Wallace’s is better)?

Honestly this is tough for the reasons HH mentioned.

This is where drafting for need vs BPA really gets tested.

I think Cason is a safe upper end NBA player for a long time.

I think Tay has a chance to be a better high end player if it all comes together for him.
I settled on Hendo and trying to trade up for Wallace... NY/Orlando (with the Chicago pick)/OKC likely aren't looking at pg. Worst case I take Bufkin at 18. I think LA could be talked into a trade so they can get a rookie and have an asset to move later too. I think we should be able to have our cake and eat it too... just might have to buy the damn cake doe.

Not really... I think there is concern on both. Wallace's shooting is further along and he's just a more normal player. It looks cleaner than Black... but I am telling you... that court was about as clogged as can be.

There's no way in hell Cason is any taller than 6'4 in shoes. The dude looks pretty short and that's with having big hair.

My fear is that he's 6'3 in shoes with a 6'5 wingspan, something like that. The numbers I've seen for him are 6'4 with a 6'6 wingspan. Not awful but not great. Jrue is also 6'4 with a 6'6 wingspan tho so not a death sentence.

I don't think he is either... but i saw Davion listed at 6'2" on college bball reference. Wallace doesn't look small. I'd bet 6'4" in shoes. I wouldn't read too much into measurements with him as long as they are semi-close... He gets his hands on the ball a lot... that's what wingspan and length is for. If his measurements come in at 6'3 and 6'6 (the wingspan looks to be easily plus 3) and it lowers his stock then great... less stuff we need to trade to move up.

Wallace might be 6'2" w/o shoes. UK said he's 6'3" at their Pro Day. Here's that link again.

Davion's draft measurements... 6-1.25 with a 6-4.25 wingspan. Cason will be +2 in both categories... which I think is significant.
