Enter the Dragic!

So…Dragic has been tearing it up lately 21, 7.6, 2.2 stls (51%, 46%, 79%) for April (37 minutes) and 15, 7.4, 1.8 stls (50%, 41%, 86%) for March (33 minutes). His Synergy defensive rating is 74th, which is quite good—better than anyone on the Jazz. He’s been keeping Houston afloat, and has shown that he can be effective on a winning team. I have not seen him play very much (just Sports Center etc.), so input is welcome.

Statistically, he brings a few things to the table.

1. Quality shooter from two and three and can get hot.
2. Pretty good defender.
3. Steals the ball well.
4. Is efficient.
5. Assists the ball fairly well.
6. Has good speed can push the ball or drive the lane.

Who do we see as being better in the draft or available soon, and could he be better than Harris? He’s 25 and is coming into his own.

*Hint: Enter the Cage

Considering that this level of production is aberrant and he's a 26-year old (in a month), 4th year player in a contract year, there should be as much caution as excitement surrounding this spike in production.

However, I have always liked him (and was my choice to be drafted in the 2nd round in 2008, FWIW) and he's a good player. I wouldn't expect the production he's bringing recently, but I think he'd be good to have.

His streakiness would drive this board into hysterics.

I like him, but I wouldn't pay him so much that we weaken our position as a major player in '13. Tricky balance. And, my position changes a lot if we can/can't get a PG in this draft.

He would be a great upgrade to what we have. He was a great performer for the Suns(?) a year or two ago in the playoffs, really energized their bench which played a huge role for them. Would take him in a heartbeat.

Streakiness??? Since he has been a started he has been very consistently good. I have watched him a lot on League Pass. If we dont draft a PG he should be very high up there on our free agent wish list.

I agree with you, this could be a flash in the pan scenario and Dragic may have already reached his ceiling. However, out of curiosity I looked up Steve Nash's stats and I thought it was worth mentioning that he didn't average over ten points and over 7 assists until his fifth season and he didn't average over ten assists until his 9th. I'm not saying that Dragic is going to end up as good as Nash, but some players are late bloomers and don't really shine until a team gives them a chance. I personally would love it if the jazz took a chance and made a run at him this offseason.

It's not like Dragic is doing all of this under the radar...everyone is noticing. Some other team will massively overpay for his services this offseason and it won't be the Jazz.

I have said all along he is worth 5 - 8 mil per I wouldn't offer him more then 3 yrs 21 mil with a 4th yr team option. More then that it wouldn't be worth it. We would also have to trade away Harris.

would Al Jefferson + the TPE from the memo trade for Kyle Lowry work? I'd love to get Dragic, but Portland will outbid us.

He is seeming to have a "contract" year, but was pretty good last year as well. I would be tempted to throw about 7 million a year at him. If outbid, so be it.

Doesn't he have like the lowest PER in the league for the last two years?

If you're talking about Dragic, he has a PER of 18.01 right now and had a PER of 17.7 with Houston last year for the last 22 games when he was with them. His ability to make the three is looking better and better; we need shooting bad. My semi-wet dream would be Dragic, Harden, and Hayward for our pg/wings.

Houston's going to obviously want to keep (or afford) one of Lowry or Dragic. Most likely Lowry.

If any thing the jazz should get involved bidding on dragic this off season just to make Portland way over pay for him so they screw their cap space. they have screwed us enough.
