He will be a free agent in a year and a half. Not sure if Houston will be able to afford him.

The Rockets have a team options on him next year, they did the mistake to not add an additional season at qualifying offer.

So in theory everything is possible.

So, Parsons will either:
-Get extended
-Be on the rockets for another year with UFA coming the following year
or
-Become an RFA this offseason

Well I'll be damned. The Rockets hold the cards, but, yeah.

From my understanding the Rockets can use their team option on him in 2014/15 to get him super cheap, but he then becomes and unrestricted free agent in 2015/206.
Alternatively they can forgo the team option and give him a qualifying offer, making him restricted immediately. This puts them in a pickle because they can't afford to pay him big money in 2014/15 with Lin and Asik still on the books. Obviously Morey has been looking for a sucker team to take Asik or Lin, and no one has bit.

There are plenty of teams that would want Asik, but Morey has been asking for the ****ing moon. Sometimes you out-smart yourself, I guess.
