If you were GM who would be your top 3 targets?

I'd like to hear who you'd target and why and what you'd be willing to give up for them. Realistic scenarios appreciated. If your 3 targets are Lebron, CP3, and Dwight Howard I'm afraid you don't understand the spirit of what I'm asking for. I'm asking if you actually were GM of the team, given real world considerations who would you realistically chase after, and why you'd choose that person.

I'll give examples.

Jarrett Jack - I'd try to get Jack because he's a good PnR PG and I believe he's not highly valued by his current squad, New Orleans. I think he'd be a better fit for the Jazz than Mo Williams. I wouldn't give up any of our young core, but, if I could get him for Mo or him and X for Jefferson I'd be interested.

Ricky Rubio - By my money the best PG in the league. There isn't much I wouldn't move to get Rubio. I'd even ship off Favors in a Rubio deal. I think Minny would turn that down flat, but, it wouldn't stop me from asking. So, maybe Favors, Burks, and the GS 1st. They'd have to consider that at least. I like him for his passing, court vision, and length on defense. Plus, he's just a blast to watch.

Varajao - I think Cleveland would love to be free of Varajao's contract. He'd bring hustle to the Jazz and allow us to have a 4th making a Jefferson trade easier. Kinda like how adding Williams made trading Harris easier. Maybe he could be had for Watson and a S&T of Miles. Maybe it'd take a bit more. I'd only want him on the cheap though.

Wow.

No way in hell I trade favors for Rubio. They would need to be the ones throwing in draft picks and some other good player.

So you would ship off our best young talent who is expected to be the cornerstone for the franchise for years to come, plus a good young scorer, and a probably lottery pick all for a point guard who is coming off major knee surgery?

Well, on reviewing his knee injury I guess I wouldn't.

I didn't realize he was so seriously injured, that's too bad, he looked amazing when I saw him play. Hopefully he comes back at full strength.

Let's get our ducks in a row..

https://espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=75jlwmn

Atlanta gets Jefferson

Minnesota gets Horford

We get Brad Miller(1 year sweetheart 6 million extension so he's tradable), Darko Milicic, and Rubio.

There's less time on Al's contract than Horfords which gets Hotlanta a better trade piece for a Dwight Howard Deal

Minnesota gets Kevin Love the relief he wants

We get rid the log jam @ 4/5 and add a solid role playing backup big in Darko, amnesty a retiring Brad Miller, and we take a gamble with what could be a PG of the future. If nothing else, we would be getting tons of international attention, which would make the Jazz organization more advertizing $$$.

You cannot amnesty someone that you traded to get. They had to be on your team under contract as of the time that the new CBA was signed.

Rubio is pretty untouchable. They waited two years to actually get him from Europe and he sells tickets with his flashy playing style.

Jack isn't a bad idea.

But Rubio's price tage would be way too high and Varejao would want the PT that we're supposed to be giving to Kanter. Honestly, I think KOC needs to stand pat right now. Unless a great deal for Jefferson comes along, just keep him until the deadline. Having Jefferson AND Millsap also gives Paul less leverage on an extension. Besides, as much as I like Paul, I'm not so sure he's going to stay. I remember his uncle/agent being unhappy when the Jazz matched his offer from Portland. Not being a regular agent with multiple clients, I think he still feels Utah disrespected Paul.

So KOC may have to do with Paul what he did with Deron...trade him before the deadline rather than risk losing a top player without getting any value in return.

I'm going to assume ElRoach0 was being sarcastic.

Oh come on... it wasn't that bad. In my mind, if we just get rid of Jefferson, we'll be at worst in the same spot we were this year, only have a chance against the 1 seed. At best, 4 seed.

I guess I should contribute.

I'd go after Ellis, Jennings, and Horford.
