SALT LAKE CITY – Former BYU Cougars and current New York Jets quarterback Zach Wilson wore a custom jersey while attending the New York Mets’ game against St. Louis Cardinals.

The Mets hosted the Cardinals at Citi Field on Thursday, May 19.

Wilson sat in the front row down the first base line as he watched the game featuring fellow professional athletes in New York.

During the third inning of action, the game’s televised broadcast showed the Jets quarterback sporting a Mets jersey with “Wilson” on the back.

Other Local Athletes At Mets Games

Wilson isn’t the only local athlete to watch the Mets play in New York. Two days prior to Wilson’s attendance at Citi Field, Utah Jazz guard Donovan Mitchell sat near the Mets’ dugout and had a conversation with New York’s Francisco Lindor.

About Zach Wilson

Before his time in the NFL, the Corner Canyon High School product had a standout career at BYU. Wilson helped the Cougars to an 11-1 record during his final season in Provo.

Wilson recently completed his first season in the NFL.

The quarterback struggled to start the 2021 campaign and suffered a knee injury that caused him to miss a month midway through the season. After bouncing back from the injury, Wilson saw his play improve down the final stretch of New York’s slate.

Wilson finished the season passing for 2,334 yards, nine touchdowns, and 11 interceptions. He added 185 yards and four touchdowns on the ground.
