SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – The NBA Draft Lottery was held Wednesday night, and though the Utah Jazz weren’t in the running to land a top 14 pick, they left the night feeling better about the future of the Western Conference.

In a draft largely considered to have five elite prospects, four of the top five picks will be made by Eastern Conference teams.

The Detroit Pistons won the NBA draft lottery and will make the top pick in the July 29 draft. The Houston Rockets will draft second, the Cleveland Cavaliers will daft third, and the Toronto Raptors will draft fourth.

The Orlando Magic who had the third-best odds to win the lottery fell to fifth to round out the top of the draft.

The Oklahoma City Thunder and Minnesota Timberwolves who had the fourth and sixth-best odds to win the draft lottery were leaped by Toronto and Cleveland.

The outcome of the draft lottery will be helpful for the Jazz who saw the top two picks in each of the last three drafts made by Western Conference teams. Though the Rockets still own a top-two pick, the West won’t be replenished with talent among the lower-tier teams.

This is the final draft order after Wednesday’s lottery:

  1. Detroit Pistons
  2. Houston Rockets
  3. Cleveland Cavaliers
  4. Toronto Raptors
  5. Orlando Magic
  6. Oklahoma City Thunder
  7. Golden State Warriors
  8. Orlando Magic
  9. Sacramento Kings
  10. New Orleans Pelicans
  11. Charlotte Hornets
  12. San Antonio Spurs
  13. Indiana Pacers
  14. Golden State Warriors

The Utah Jazz will own the 30th pick in the draft after finishing with the best record in the NBA during the 2020-21 NBA season.
