Jabari Parker won the Gatorade National player of the year award. Only the fourth non-senior to win it.

I don't really care if he goes to BYU, but would love having him in the state to be able to watch him play on a regular basis.

So I take it this kid is Mormon? Good for him I guess but that has no bearing on my personal liking or not liking of a player.

Seems like a good kid. I hope he makes it and goes far, we need more role models like him.

That ESPN articles mentions he's Mormon as well that he attends early morning seminary. I love how humble he is. Sounds like a great kid.

Kid seems like the real deal. Unless the NBA changes it's rules in the next 2 years, it seems like he's almost certain to be a one-and-done player. Are BYU fans ok with that? I wonder if that will also factor in to his decision. Even if he is LDS, do you spend your 1 year of prepping for the NBA at BYU as opposed to somewhere like Kentucky or UNC?

I personally would like him on a more national stage than BYU. Perhaps Kansas, Duke, UNC, Kentucky...for the simple fact that him being him will be a great way of breaking down a sterotype and preconceptions.

Any positive/good way of doing away with a sterotype or distrust of any group will usually be a good thing.

What about a mission? I wonder what kind of effect that would have on his recruiting. Of course if he played at the Y then that would count as a mission. One stone, two birds.

I don't think he goes to BYU either. I would love that, but he will be at a Kentuky, Kansas, NC, Duke type school.
No way he goes Pac 12 either.

On the other hand, I can still dream until he decides... and shatters them.

I thought it was the curse of Cain was black skin as pointed out by

    2 Nephi 5 :21
"And he had caused the cursing to come upon them, yea, even a sore cursing, because of their iniquity. For behold, they had hardened their hearts against him, that they had become like unto a flint; wherefore, as they were white, and exceedingly fair and delightsome, that they might not be enticing unto my people the Lord God did cause a skin of blackness to come upon them."

If your saying I'm quoting out of context the verses around this one point the same thing...

Like with Islam many people quote Qur'an 9:5 (The verse of the sword) which says "to kill them were you find them"

However it is simply out of context because Qur'an 9:6 says that if they don't want to fight, not only do you not fight them, you help defend them.

    I want to hear a Mormon's prespective on 2 Nephri 5 :21

The only thing I got were people on this board like TroutBum saying "that's right, I find black people Ugly"

TBS you are an embarrassment to your family, religion, friend and this country. I say this because you have to attack something different than you. You are not content in your life until you make others feel bad. Pathetic.
