Assuming we strike out on Tobias Harris, DLo, Conley trade, etc. What's the plan B? I'm all for still letting Favors walk. We've tried it. It's redundant with Gobert and doesn't give the Jazz enough shooting they need. There's still potentially a great list of FA's available that could be paired together and be considered a success.

What combination of these players should be the plan B that would actually make fans happy with the result?
(Also consider that Bird's rights on these guys in a few years could be huge if they improve because the Jazz may not have much cap space with Mitchell on a max deal and Gobert on a super max.)

    - Patrick Beverly
    - Nikola Mirotic
    - Bojan Bogdonovic
    - Danny Green
    - Thaddeus Young
    - Terrance Ross
    - Jabari Parker
    - Jeremy Lamb
    - JaMychel Green
    - Darren Collison
    - Kentavious Caldwell Pope
    - Reggie Bullock
    - Bobby Portis (restricted)
    - Terry Rozier (restricted)
    - Kelly Oubre (restricted)
    - Stanley Johnson (restricted)

Or is there really nothing here that works so we'd basically 100% bring back Favors and also try to swing some sort of trade involving our draft pick and cap space?

Time will tell. What goes down in the draft plays alot into things.

I don't think the Jazz are going to strike out, they'll sign someone and/or trade for a PG or Harris.

BUT... if I have to, I would get Mirotic, Bogdan and Beverley

You’ve missed the most obvious and most likely “plan B.”

Only July 7th we’ll trade Favors, Exum, and a first rounder for Kevin Love.

He is one of the guys on the Pels roster that is intriguing. Also there are Efrid Payton and Jalil Okafor the No 3 pick in the draft 4 years ago. All three put up decent numbers last season. I know each of them have warts but with several players moving on they could be adequate replacements.

Trading for Kevin Love is my worst nightmare. No way Dennis is that dumb.

I also know the no deal would include Exum. Dennis wouldn’t give up Exum even if it meant getting Kawhi Leonard.

Having to resort to a plan B would be a bad sign. It means not even second tier stars like Tobias, Russell, etc wants to join a 50 win team, and points to us having to build a contender completely through the draft... a virtually impossible feat.

I have more faith in Lindsey and his new GM than this. If that's the trade we better be getting 2 firsts as well. Favors is better than Love for far less money.

So we replace Rubio and Favors with lesser players?

If no Tobias, Russell or other major free agent, my Plan B is:

A future draft pick and minor contracts (Korver, Bradley, whatever) for Winslow, Olynyk and Waiters.

Winslow and Mitchell can run the point. We could have a crazy switchable team with Donovan at PG on defense along with Ingles, Winslow, O'Neale and Gobert.

Miami thinks about it because they are in middle of the pack purgatory and want to avoid the luxury. They also lack a 2021 1st rounder and want to spend big in 2020.

Love it. One of my favorite plan B ideas I’ve seen yet. I think somehow Dragic may also have to be part of it if he picks up his player option this year.

I wouldn’t say it means they don’t want to join us, I just think that given the current dynamics, they’ll be locked up elsewhere. This is what happens when you value flexibility above all else — you soon find that you have none.
