Shots were fired inside the house of congress and a woman is in critical condition from a gunshot to the chest. The national guard is being brought in after the capitol police were unable to contain the terrorist threat. Some members of congress are being evacuated while others are being told to lay on the floor because there is an armed standoff on the steps of the building. Police have their guns drawn and aimed at the front door. Also heard that tear gas was unleashed inside the house of congress.

The optimist in me says this is where the Trump supporters realize how ****ing stupid they are being to still be on his side. The optimist says those in government that publicly oppose the election results and stand with Trumps obvious BS will be woke the **** up and realize the real harm they are doing in brainwashing people that believe their lies.

The rest of me can't wait to hear how the Trumpers support this ****** behavior after saying "this aint a coup... he's just being Trumpy... lols".

Does anyone doubt that if these folks were minorities or perceived Antifa that we wouldn't be seeing lethal force right now? Law and order, right?

It's 25th Amendment time - Trump stoked this and needs to own it. Too bad there aren't enough brave people in politics to do something about it.

And he's the only person who can stop it with a simple tweet - but too many people are convinced this is 1776.

I posted a few days ago about how trump has hurt my relationships with people and then someone (i think it was laundries?) asked me why that would be the case. Well this is why. Trump supporters are trying to destroy the country I love. Kinda hard to just look the other way on this.

Maybe... I think the fact that they are likely armed is what is stopping the lethal force atm. The pics from outside showed a **** ton of people... I wonder without military help if the armed mob would likely easily overtake the security and police on site. There is lots of tinder there... hopefully no one lights a match.

Your larger point doe... yeah this **** is way more threatening and serious than the other protests where force was applied liberally and freely.

I’m speechless, watching this on CNN at the moment. I hope this is the event that opens eyes on what Donald Trump wrought. Amazing what an alternate reality, rooted in a Big Lie, can do. I hope this is the whoa moment, that makes most Americans realize who encouraged this, and how dangerous enabling him has been, and still can be, unless we reject Trumpism.

Right there with ya brotha... have had serious discussion with so many people close to me and lost a ton of respect for people close to me. Wife's family is hardcore republican and its lead to some seriously contentious discussions in our household. Even some of my kid's friends were spewing BS to me they hear from their parents... I had to set them straight. They truly believe the election was completely stolen... its amazing that they heard that enough from their parents that they believe it as an indisputable fact.

Lots of people looking at me sideways these days... **** em.

As you guys probably recall since I made a thread about it, I pretty much cut ties with my father back in 2016 and his support of Trump contributed to it. Sounds crazy I know, but my vision of what Trump represents was as clear then as it is now and I couldn't reconcile with my own father being that kind of person. Here we are today and I wish I could say I didn't see this coming.

I'm sorry man. I've never been passionate about politics. I voted for Trump in 2016 and was gutted about it. I hated it, but rationalized it. He spent 4 years proving who I thought he might be... glad I didn't make the same mistake this time around but disappointed by those around me that still Stan for the guy. It has been shocking and I've had some good conversations with folks but mostly its been extremely disappointing to discuss these things.

My dad supported trump for a long time. About 4 months ago he stopped supporting trump thank god. I think the reports of trump calling the military losers was what did it. My dad fought in Vietnam is a proud vet. Im very happy that he is no longer a trumper. He still thinks democrats are evil and is still a republican but at least he finally realized that trump sucks.
