Screw it, a trade thread, with my poll...no, not that pole

If the CBA allows it, and the Bucks were willing, would you do a S&T of Ilyasova for Jefferson, Ilyasova being the person signed of course, at, let's say in this hypothetical, 8M per year.

Pros: We lose Jefferson. We retain depth up front. We gain a stretch 4. We get a guy who can play some 3. We get a guy who can play some defense. We save about 4M this year.
Cons: We lose a center, though imo, it's not a huge loss with Favors and Kanter on board. We lock up long-term money, thus making next summer's spending spree, tougher.

I approve of this thread and trade. I have liked Illyasova for he last few seasons. Good work Wes.

No. I would rather extend Millsap for 11 million than sign another PF for 8 million. He can't play SF.

I don't want another Memo. I want a SG/SF who can hit a three, and a PF who can guard another PF. Millsap is more valuable than another Memo.

While it seems many have felt I have succeeded with this trade proposal and thread, I have failed in creating a poll. So just voice your opinion I guess.

@Bluesy: Why is it not happening? Is the Ilyasova figure a little too light? Batum just got a 10M offer and I think he's more valued than Ilyasova.

Let me additionally say that I would frontload the **** out of this. 9.5M, 8.5M, 7.5M, 6.5M. That doesn't look bad at all.

Kanter's extension is still down the road. I'll take Millsap and Illyasova for now. One or both will be tradable assets in the future (if need be). A stretch four would be nice to have.

I don't like Ilyasova (he's a big sourpuss baby that isn't that good at basketball) so I'd rather not. But with a gun to my head, sure I guess.

I dont see KOC going in that direction. I like him, but it doesnt unjam are bigs situation.

Trading Jefferson is more about creating space than it is about getting his replacement.

I also dont think Kevin is in as big a hurry as you or I to get rid of Jefferson or Millsap. I think he might just roll with what we got..

explaining this would be a valuable contribution.

I would expect Udrih to invoke player option, so that's 49 mil of actual salary.

Cap holds of Brown, Delfino and the 14th pick add up to around 16, 17 mil. That puts the Bucks over the salary cap, and thus must have matching salaries (isn't it 50% plus 100k?), and so Jefferson straight up for Ilyasova can't happen.

Duck,

I'm not sure you or I know all the details of those cap holds. According to shamsports, we have around 92M on the books for this year when counting in the cap holds, including Andrei's.

I agree. Millsap is the superior player. He's a "stretch 4" who can also play SF against bigger opponents. Paul is a 17/8 player, getting those stats with few plays called for him. He can hit 3's and just might have the best mid-range game amongst PF's.

I'd get Millsap to agree to a $10M contract. I guess if that fails, you can look at Ilyasova.

What the Jazz needs is a starting SF (I think Hayward is a big 2), a young PG and a defensive C/PF. That is what I'd be looking for in trades involving Harris and Jefferson. Barring actual players, you get top-5 protected picks. If the Jazz went into next summer with 4 first-rounders, that would be a fantastic haul, especially if a couple were in the late lottery or mid-teens.

Cap holds aren't money spent. They're essentially money you can't use. Cap holds close a possible loophole. Say when Bosh, James, and Wade enter free agency at the same time, their cap holds would prevent Miami from signing Derek Rose and Dwight Howard to max deals because Miami is under the cap and then sign those three with Bird rights.

Jazz have cap holds all the way back to Ostertag because they've never been under the cap since then and have had no need to renounce those players' rights, so they haven't. All those cap holds will likely be renounced next off season.

Yeah, i realized your first few statements but just didn't understand why the holds were in place. In Milwaukee's case, if we did this Ilyasova deal, and Delfino and Brown signed elsewhere, wouldn't those holds come off? Do holds remain on even after the player's involved sign with another team?
